What is duribility rating of engines mean?

Anyone understand exactly what is the meaning of durability rating of the engine the goverment imposed.

1)I look at B & S web on the lawn mower type of engines and find out their extended rated engine have cast iron sleeve and ball bearing. Now a days, a lot of cars have sleeveless aluminum engine. They use some coating and the engine last a long long time. Also car engines never have ball bearings. From knowledge of model plane glow engines, ball bearing reduce friction so you get more power. They absolutely not equate ball bearing to longivity at all. In fact ball bearing don't last as long if not properly maintain.

2) The anodize or other special coating of the cylinder wall work just as well...at least for the first go around. It would be more difficult to rehone. Who in the right mind will go overhaul the engine. Just buy a new one when it dies. This is not a car!!!

As for smaller trimmer engines, they all have ball bearings and no one I know of have iron sleeves. THose high RPM engines are even more demanding than the big ones.

Anyone have more information, please respond to this

Thanks
