Calling all Janes!

Hello,

If you have personal experience with the Jane Magnolia in zones 6b or 7, I would appreciate hearing from you. The Jane magnolia will do well in full sun or partial shade according to everything I've read. Its USDA hardiness zones are 4b, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9. In warmer climates, the Jane Magnolia prefers afternoon shade. My situation: I'm in zone 6b or zone 7 according to different plant vendors or gardening sources. The lovely Jane would be perfect in my yard for so many reasons, but the only location that will work is a full sun location. ( The 6' fence in the background will shade the lower portion of the tree after 3PM) Jane will reach a height of 10' -15'.

I'm trying to avoid burning this magnolia with too many hours of sun. Nevertheless, I've seen many photos of Jane Magnolias happlily growing in the open in what seems to be full sun in zones warmer than mine.

Have you grown a Jane Magnolia in full sun or near full sun in zones 6b/7? What happened? Thanks so much!!
