Echo PB251 Blower versus Stihl BG55
Comments (15)Sorry Virginia and West Virginia for that matter. It was just a little tom foolery not meant to offend anyone. That goes as well for our friends to the west in Taiwan as well. It's just that I own a pressure washer with a 5hp Honda engine, and I just have to say that it is the nicest little running engine that I have ever owned. And I think that the farmed out Taiwan engines might lack a little on the quality compared to the Japanese ones. I did however have to add a thicker gasket to the plastic manifold in between the carb and the engine due to heat distortion. That one took me a while to diagnose....See MoreEcho PB-403T backpack blower issue
Comments (7)Wake: Your current description would indicate that your are on the right track . In some stubborn cases jet removal and high pressure carb spray eg: Berrymans-12 or Concentrated "Gunk Product" is required to further removal residual hardened varnish or debris within the Main Fuel Circuits. It would appear that your primary Primer or Starting "Idle" circuits are clear. The Hiccups that you describe I would think are from residual debris causing temporary or sporadic fuel restriction and sluggish throttle response etc. You may also have to actually dismantle the carb diaphram plate and check the inlet needle valve and diaphram for full range of motion and for small tear or diaphram stretching caused either from normal wear and tear (old diaphram) or extended ethanol based fuel usage. Secondary cause would be Electrical Coil Degradation , but normally a definite Engine "Miss" is identified with a Coil going South , which I don't think you are describing . I would say try the jet removal 1st and cleaning and tune to 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 turns out from closed . Let us know what you find Bro !...See MoreBackpack leaf blower; Echo or Husqvarna
Comments (7)Posted by misterfixit1967 My neighbor had a Husq 130 backpack blower which worked well last fall (when it was new). He was using it today and came over to me and said the speed was not the same as he remembered. It was a bit faster than idle but when he opened the throttle it failed to increase speed. We checked the linkage to the carb and it was fine. He took it back to Lowes and they gave him a Troy Bilt blower in exchange and told him that they have had a lot of problems with Husky blowers. Anyone else hear the same story? Bob ============= I have heard of that problem many times. People call it a "Case of industrial dumbasz. #1. Buying any power equipment from a place like Lowes is a good indication that you/he has a classic case of the dumbasz. Lowes people are barely certified to sale something let alone work on it. A simple carb adjustment would have fixed the blower. #2. Anyone who would trade a Husqvarna 130 for anything made by Troy Bilt just confirms that a case of dumbasz has struck again....See MoreBR-340 Leaf Blower question
Comments (2)W0: Some of Stihls carbs have limiter caps , others welch plugs limiting only adjustment of the High Speed and Idle Screws. Hopefully your unit has no restriction within these adjustments. My advice would be to remove both Hi & Lo jets and spray carb cleaner within the orifices. Also add some concentrated carb cleaner within fresh fuel approx 2 ounces. Let mixture sit 20 minutes then replace the jets and turn in the jets until they bottom (gentley) then turn both out 1-1/4 turns . Choke the carb and attempt starting as usual . Once you have it started keep it running until the saw will run without choke . Once warmed up adjust the low speed in or out till it will accelerate without hesitation . As for the Hi speed same procedure , normally I turn the screw counter clock wise to around 1-1/2 turns at WOT until it begins to diesel or gallop then turn it in )leaner) just till it clears out . Once all this has been done you can set your idle speed to your liking . I usually set mine a little high to assist with Cold Starting and Idle . Remember any adjustments (Hi or Low) normally require readjustment to the Idle setting . Note: Just a further note of info always ensure your fuel tank is full and your air cleaner clean before attempting any carb adjustments ...E ....See MoreRelated Professionals
