Echo PB230LN Blower

My Craftsman/Poulan has died and I am looking at the Echo PB230LN.

I plan on using it for grass and edging clean up during the summer and leaf clean up in the fall so that I can get them all together and mulch them with my mower.

Any thoughts om this blower to people that have used it? I am looking for longevity more than the most powerful unit since I know the Stihl BG85 is more powerful.

I do not think I need a back pack since I will be mulching the leafs and I have a great dealer that sells Echo.

The PB230LN works very well but I found it tiring due to the weight, I was switching hands frequently.

I also started out with a hand held blower and found myself having to switch hands often. I finally got a backpack blower, which solved that problem. The backpack does a much better job in less time, and is not tiring at all. If you get a chance, try a backpack out before buying a new blower. At least you will know for sure which one is right for you. Charles Ranheim.

Might first thought is a vacuum leak, all the jug and crank case cover screws are tight right? second thought how about compression? Blowers can wear out and engine quickly, takes alot of torque to blow air. after that MY guess would be carb. diaphramn gone south. Might try a new 8 dollar carb. kit.

Hello I have a Echo PB620 which has a gray blower, but was wondering if u could swap out the grey blower with the orange one on the 500 and/or PB620ST? I was also wondering if u could swap out the triggering mechanism for the trigger mechanism on the PB500? Much help would be greatly appreciated

Only items missing carbon fouling of rings and in 4 cycle unit valve train carbon build up , both which will cause compression loss and reduced performance . As a side note fuel delivery system issues due to age , weak diaphragm or weak collapsed , brittle or cracked fuel lines or gaskets cause irregular idle or runnability !

Thanks for the feedback and for watching! I think ECHO said they are coming out with gutter kits for it. I am in Northeast FL so I don't think I truly NEED it either, but I can tell with my limited use so far that it gets me through my standard yards a half minute or minute quicker and I have one commercial property I blow weekly that is mostly parking lot that I think will save more than a few minutes. All that to say it sure is nice to have! :)

I was thinking of buying a handheld blower to augment my backpack Echo 650. While looking over the schematics I found that the Echo 230LN has two piston rings whereas the Echo 251 only has one? I suppose the designers are looking for rpm and thats why they went to one ring.

I ended up buying the PB251 a few weeks ago and am very happy with the unit. It is worlds better than my Craftsman/Poulan that it repalced.
