My friend has these little miniature hostas. I don't know the name but they are so cute.

I'm a big fan of Royal Candles Veronica (or speedwell) this year. I like that it's spiky but has a nice, neat, rounded form. It would be a nice contrast with the lime foilage of your existing plant behind it.

As for small hosta, gold edger is nice. The largest it will get is maybe a foot across... I've had mine for 7 years and it's never gotten that wide because I divide it quite a bit. It's a pretty fast grower so it's great for dividing. The size is perfect for filling little bare spots, plus the gold/lime green gives a little pop of color. I have some in full sun and some in full shade. It'll be more of a lime green in shade and more gold in sun. It's also fairly common so you wouldn't have much problem finding it.

Iberis would give you early white blooms and greenery in the winter. It's an old, but underused and very useful little shrublet.

Something nice to mix in with the gold edger (which I have) is another small hosta called 'blue cadet'. It is one of my favourites, and looks great mixed with the golden colour of the gold edger. Another nice small hosta in the gold colour range is one called 'gold drop' It has the most beautiful heart shaped leaves.
If you wanted a smaller one to border the walkway (with the gold edger and the blue cadet in the back)I would suggest 'twist of lime' which is a really nice miniature hosta.

I have SO many hostas on our north side that I don't want to see them anywhere else. Thanks for the suggestions.

If it were me, I would put something tall and skinny at the two back corners: small arborvitae or other conifer, or even an iris with good foliage. Then I would mix in about three small evergreen somethings: maybe a couple more azaleas (is that what's in the corner?)or a couple more boxwoods. I would use either the azaleas or the boxwoods and locate the other one somewhere else. It's a small space for both. With a total of three of these shrubs, I'd put two in the middle at the back and one in front of them to make a triangle. Now you have some evergreen structure that will make the bed look organized 4 seasons a year.

Now, use the astilbe and columbine as filler on either side of the front and center evergreen. You might want to add another plant or two of each to fill in their space.
Then move your impatiens (?) into the front corners for spots of color, and let those Lamiums loose in the middle. I'd put that lovely geranium in a pot by the door.

I'm with donnabaskets. I'd put in a few small evergreens so you have some winter interest. I also see the need for something taller against the back wall, whether it be an evergreen or maybe some foxgloves? Maybe a trellis with a clematis...

Tiarellas and heucherellas have beautiful foliage, giving more lasting interest than just blooms. Iberis is a good suggestion too, although I'm having a bit of trouble getting it established.

I'm a new gardener, but one of my favorites is this Touch of Class, it is a cousin to Jacobs Ladder. I don't know much about it but it does not get to big. I believe up to 14" x 14". I is a shade plant and I did have it in full shade but it was not doing well. I moved it to a spot that get a little sun and it seems to be doing much better. It is very pretty, whimsical even. Well, thats my pick for the spot. I am not sure where you would find one now. I only found one at my local nursery.

For an easy quick fix, I would plant a daylily at the end with the most sun. Down toward the other end, if there is room(hard to tell with the angle,) I would put another plant with linear foliage that likes part shade I was thinking of my short japanese iris, but not sure how easy the smaller ones are to find. Anyway, a plant with more linear foliage.
The front of the walk, I would line with annuals. Like in early spring, you could do primroses or pansies. Then once it is warm, you could change to another shade annual like begonia, torenia, nicotiana(short bedding kind,) or impatiens.

I would suggest Veronica Georgia Blue...a lovely low spreader, not too aggressive. long spring bloom (so you would have nice color before geranium would be in bloom). i can't tell if you have the room, but if you do, i would also consider adding a compact chrysanthemum for fall colow, and also some Blue Fescue (Elijah Blue).

I love daylilies and have just ordered a bunch of large ones (large blooms, not tall) and I could put one there, but I'm afraid the buds would be knocked off if the kids run past. I think Chorus Line has smaller blooms so I could put that one there.
I like heuchera and have one in my front shade bed so I could get another one here for in front of my white bleeding heart.
My annuals this year are pathetic because an animal kept digging them up when I planted them.
I'm also not crazy about my astilbe there. I'll have to move that out too and find something evergreen.
