Do all garden hoses contain a chemical biocide?
Comments (6)I don't have the answer to your question, but I DO have a hose recommendation. I am ridiculously enthusiastic about this super-safe, USA-made, drinking-water-safe polyurethane hose from Water right: http://www.waterrightinc.com/collections/watering-accessories/products/slim-lightweight-polyurethane-garden-hose-100-ft I wrote a blog post about it here: http://ourgreendreamhome.com/2014/04/12/i-love-this-best-hose-ever/ The hose and the water that comes out of it has NO chemical stink, and since it is truly thin and light, it's very easy to use, even the extremely long 100ft lengths that we use around here. (No, I don't work for the company! I just like their hoses!)...See Morebloody garden hose reels!!
Comments (23)Ooooh, I hate dealing with the hose!!!! I bought a wind-up one something like 12 years ago that is a small self-contained unit that I can carry (not a big wheeled contraption). I love that thing because it's portable, but have had the leaking problems. DH patched it over the years and it has held up well outside of that. I have never seen another one like this, so I won't toss it. I've tried two different models of flat hoses - waste of money. The cloth models constantly spring leaks because the cloth is easily punctured (especially around thorny rosebushes!), they don't wind up as easily as the ads make you believe, and the plastic model I had had terrible water pressure. I had sprinklers installed at my other house, but when I moved here I didn't want to spend the money because I didn't plan on living here this long - what's that old quote - "If you want to make God laugh, tell him your plans". Yep.... So I'm still here, dragging the $#!@ hose, and swearing up and down that I am getting sprinklers at my next house if it's the last think I do! Bloody right!!!!...See Moregarden hose reel...do you like yours?
Comments (14)Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum, and I'm not sure if this is the right spot to post this, but I'd really love someone's help on the subject. I have an old Ames Reel Easy poly garden hose reel and I'm curious about the water pipe inside the reel. It has three outlets, and I don't understand why. One is a tube that goes out to the short connector hose. One I would assume connects to the hose that winds around the reel, but what is the third connection for? Here's a reference: http://www.homehardware.ca/products/300/50420361.jpg I ask because my reel has sat in my garage for a long time now, unused, because it leaks badly. I think it's because something on this piece broke. On the picture referenced above, the bottom right connection has a little piece missing from the plastic connector, but it doesn't seem enough to cause a leak. But why is this connection even there? What connects to it? It seems to me that if nothing connects to it, the water just pours out through it and that's what's happening in my case. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks, -Dave Here is a link that might be useful:...See MoreFlexible Garden Hose
Comments (29)A frugal soul, I decided the old commercail hose left by previous owners when we moved in 12 yrs. ago had a bit of life left in it, but wanted more length, so bought a coil type to add on. It never coiled back as advertised kept beheading flowers as it flopped about entangling itself more. Into the trash it went & a new 'never kink' attached. Then the beat up ol' commercial got so worn the cotton threads were showing through. Saw commecial for spray on stuff to stop leaks. Skeptical, but allured by free shipping, I ordered 2 cans. Weather was quite warm by the time it arrived and I sprayed 3 light coats on worst spots where water was already beginning to seep. I allowed an hour or so drying time between each. Surprisingly it's still not leaking after almost 5 yrs! Nearly a full can left, used a bit to seal the inside of a decorative tin. Suzi...See MoreRelated Professionals
