How to Remove Augers from MTD SnowBlower
Comments (6)http://www.milacalawn.com/parts.asp Go to that site. Yardman blowers are listed by year of manufacture only. You might come close by looking at the code on the engine for the year. And probably all the differential gears will be the same anyway....See MoreSnowblower* Busted *Helping neighbor!!? Advice
Comments (9)Hey Bert, Ever hear the saying about not getting blood out of a turnip? I agree with Rusty, go to them and tell them what happened in a matter-of-fact manner. They'll probably say "that sucks" and walk away, but there's always a chance they'll actually feel bad and offer to help pay for repairs. DON'T accept if they offer to make the repairs or take it to the Brother-in-law who lives a town over and does repairs on the side. Odds are you'll never see your blower again or it'll come back in worse shape than it went out. If they don't end up paying, then document all your parts costs and how long it took you to do the repair, including time to drive to get parts. I'd skip tallying labor at 90 an hour. Keep a copy in your back pocket when you're out blowing snow. If they stop you and ask you to blow out the driveway, hand them the piece of paper. Tell 'em sorry, but you can't afford the risk of another expense like that. Anyhow, don't get nasty about it. Not much worse than starting a war with the fellow next door. You never know when you may need help from even the most worthless of them. I kept peace with everyone around me while I lived in town. Sure am glad I moved back on the farm. 'Course, now I have a 1/4 mile long driveway - BUT I also have a Deere 317 skid steer with 80 inch bucket and a Deere 4430 tractor with 9 foot Degelman front blade.... Good luck!...See MoreSnow blower decision...
Comments (30)I used to own a Sears 8hp track drive model that I purchased new. I owned it for 6 years. It was the biggest POS that ate belts and drive components every year. I sold it and bought an Ariens 10/32DLE over 10 years ago. It still has the original belts, never clogs on wet snow, chews thru any snow (including 4+ft drifts) and has never broken down on me. Do not think you are saving money by purchasing the sears (Poulan, Husq). Mechanically they will not hold up under heavy use. If you don't believe me, just ask any snowblower repair center what the biggest pieces of crap are. There are many good machines (Ariens, Toro, Simplicity, Honda) and even MTD which are better than the AYP snowblowers....See MoreChoosing the right snow blower
Comments (8)As a long time Honda user/owner of all sorts of products, I think your choice is an excellent one. There is no question that Ariens and Simplicity also make excellent products and that you should look at those IF they are supported in your area. However, the hydrostatic drive plus the tracks makes the Honda an amazing machine to operate. Yep, tracked machines can be slightly more difficult to turn but wheeled machines are no treat either. I prefer the gripping power of the tracks because they make the unit nearly unstoppable. As for design and throwing ability, Honda knows what they are doing. It snows in Japan, just like it snows in North America. I bought one of the first tracked snowblowers that Honda made and gave it to my father as a present back in the mid-eighties. He loved the machine. It started with one pull every single time. It was only 5.5 hp but that unit threw snow better than the ten hp American made models his neighbours owned. When he moved to a retirement home in 1995, I sold that blower to some friends of mine and they are still using it today. My second choice would be the Ariens but if cost is no object, then I would definitely choose the Honda....See Morejim109
