Wished I could take the kitten, she looks so much like my first cat, but I have enough trouble with finding a caretaker for mine when we, by necessity, have to run off to take care of my DBL.
Can you keep the kitten in a seperate room where the others can smell her, but not see? That helped my several years ago when we aquired a found cat under similar circumstances like you.

Why do people do this, just throw out an animal. Besides the aforementioned cat, my "now" cat was sitting on the compost pile on the day after Christmas, eating the frozen, uncooked French Fries from an old Oreida Bag which had languished in the back corner of the freezer for about a year and I had thrown out a couple of days earlier.

Forgive my tirade, it's just that every one of my animals, since I was a toddler, was an abandoned animal.

Cats love drama....the older ones will adjust...they just need to make mucho noise about this situation.

I would take her in a heartbeat if we lived closer. She is a beautiful girl and I am especially fond of tabbies. Add to that, my household of five cats all passed (all but one of old age, really) this year. The old house needs a cat's presence to be complete.

I am not particularly wanting a younger kitten, however, because I have an inquisitive new dog, small...... but one who would need to be put in his place by a cat if he became too curious. My other cats each had to do a zorro on his nose before he understood that cats like their personal space.

Don't despair if your older cats are hissing at her. There is a pecking order what needs defined. Each of our kitties had to go through that when they came to live here. They're quite like a flock of chickens, or humans for that matter. One of them always has to be the leader, and the new guy on the block has to earn his stripes.

I can't stand animal dumpers either. They fall into two camps. The one who won't neuter their animals, or the other who takes an animal like it's a magazine subscription, enjoys it for awhile and then throws it away not even bothering to try to 'recycle' it.

I was outside at one in the morning last night, because it was cold and raining, and a cat was crying pitifully outside my kitchen door. Evidently it's fear overcame it's desire to be warm and dry, because it hid.

I work with a not-for-profit organization in Illinois that MIGHT be able (no guarantees) to help you. If nothing else, I can offer moral support. :o)

In the meantime I agree with the posters who suggested your older kitties have to produce some drama as they adjust to their houseguest. Sounds as though you've already fallen for her a bit. Really hoping you'll consider permanently adding her to your family.

She's adorable! I´m afraid I can't help except to wish you luck in either welcoming her into your home or finding a new home for her. It was good of you to bring her in and care for her, I hope there will be a happy ending.

i posted 4 pictures of her and her story on craigslist around 10 am..by noon i had a call and by 2 she was happily sleeping in her new owners arms..then after they left i came on here and cancelled the craigslist ad..but not before receiving a lovely note from a guy thanking me for taking her in from the cold.

Dumped animals may sometimes have been discarded because of a health problem, new adoptions should be checked out by vets.

I had a dog here for 15+ years because somebody dumped it in the parking lot of an orchard store I was patronizing the day after. When I first had it examined it turned out to have kennel cough and something else I can't remember now, maybe a kind of worm. Eventually it was noticed it had been taught to shake hands by someone in its life before us.

They apparently had time for that, but not for maintaining its health.

The animal shelter I am near part of the time has dozens of perfectly normal-looking cats, when you walk in the door they are all over the place. Last time I was there I asked a cat walking along the edge of a sink if it had washed all the food dishes piled in it to dry. It looked up at me and went "Y-y-y-e-e-e-e-e-a-a-h-h!".

Dogs I have seen there have nearly all been elderly.

Pleased to hear about the kitty. I'm sure there is a spot in hell for those who abandon pets.

after i found the kitten a home on craigslist..i got yelled at by people that "what if they are just going to feed her to their pet snake"..

i'm not totally stupid..they brought the little girl that they were giving her to..their daughter..it was a Christmas gift..

Well that is one lucky cat. One thing you learn after being on Internet forums for any length of time..beware of pet lovers in large groups. They can be very strange people at times. LOL
