Stubbon dead patches after one month of renovation

I'm on day 34 of my new KBG renovation. I rounded up the lawn in early August and killed off the entire area. The problem I'm observing now is in regards to the dead patches of decaying grass. The patches don't seem to be going away quickly enough. There are no new blades of KBG growing through it.

I dethatched the entire lawn including the problem areas prior to seeding but I have not seen improvement as of yet. I pulled on several portions of the dead grass and it comes up easily. My question is should I manually remove those areas and reseed now or should I wait longer for the decaying process?

I'm assuming I should have seen seed germination in those areas by now. Any thoughts?
