(Novice) Lovage dropped dead after transplant. :(

Hi, I'm new, and frankly, this is my first season gardening. I'm growing a batch of culinary herbs and rehabbing my family's old herb garden at the same time (it's a lovely raised patch of homemade compost that's been covered for the past several years by overgrown ornamental [and flavorless] oregano that I've now ripped up and replaced). I started everything from seed (Richters) in pots back in late May, and divided and transplanted the ones mature enough a week ago. The dill and basil are thriving, the Italian parsley and English thyme are holding their own... But the lovage withered and died off completely. We've gotten plenty of rain the last week (a welcome change), there was no sign of critters, and the lovage I left in the pot when I divided is still growing.

I'm also growing rosemary, oregano, marjoram, and thorny Mexican coriander, and I'm open to any specific or general herb growing advice anyone'd want to share with me. :)

Thanks!
