Aesthetic appeal of non-blooming orchids

Hi all,

I guess this question is primarily aimed at in-home growers, but anyone is welcome to chime in.

I'm curious to know how important the aesthetic appeal of orchids are to people when they're not blooming and if anyone trys to get them to fit in with the decor of their homes. Plastic pots, clay pots and orchid medium after a while can look a little dirty and unappealing, and the plants themselves (depending on the genra) can tend to look a little straggly. Are there any steps you take to make them look better? Is it even important to you?

For myself as I accumulate more and more plants it seems to be becomming a more important issue. I've been buying "nice" glass vases and drilling holes in the sides to put some of my larger orchids into semi-hydro. I find it makes for a much "cleaner" looking plant. Thoughts?
