Plant grass over stone dust?

We had a large bocci pit in our yard. The pit was filled with stone dust that is about 6 inches deep. weeds and small patches of grass are growing through the dust now.

we want to plant grass in this area but are getting conflicting information on how to do this. One person said we could simply spread loom over the pit and then seed it accordingly (this is what we assumed we could do)

However, I had another contact who said that we would need to remove the dust before spreading any loom/dust. The reason is that he said the dust would act as clay, retaining water, not draining similarly to the rest of the yard. I'm unclear what this would even mean (would the area sink, are we likely to see puddles) as we've never noticed any drainage problems currently.

Any help or assistance is welcome!
