To me, that does not look bad for summer. Your tall fescue looks nice and green but the other grasses in your blend...not so much. Are you sure 60minutes is about 1" of water? With my sprinkler system, 60 minutes to a zone is not even 1/2" of water. Also, how are the other lawns in your area?

Thank you for the pictures. That helps. You are not all that bad off but I can understand your concern. It looks like your turf is a mix of grasses and some of them have been affected by something (disease or insects). That's why you get a mix of grasses for times like this. Do you know what mix of grasses you have?

Put out some cat food or tuna cans in various places in the yard. Turn on the sprinklers and time how long it takes to fill the slowest can. Then use that as a starting point for your watering.

Does your soil dry out completely between your two waterings? I'm thinking with those temps it does not. The issue with watering too frequently is that any weed seeds in the lawn will get enough water for a long enough period to germinate. The way you water less frequently is to water long enough to get 1 inch all at one time with no runoff.

Are you mowing at the mower's highest setting? It looks like you are mowing at 2 inches or less. For almost all cool season grasses you will get a better looking color when you mow it high. There are several reasons for this that I won't get into.

If you want to fertilize this summer, you can use organic fertilizer with no fear of burning even if the temps get up there. Organic fertilizers range in price from FREE (Starbucks gives away bags of used coffee grounds), inexpensive (any feed store will sell ground up stuff (corn, soy, wheat, alfalfa or something), or expensive (commercially bagged organic fertilizer). They all get applied at a rate of 10-20 pounds per 1,000 square feet. If you make a mistake and apply at 40-60, or even 100 pounds per 1,000, it won't hurt the grass but it might smell a little sour as the protein decomposes.

I would stay away from synthetic fertilizer until Labor Day. Water and mulch-mow weekly. If you want to fertilize during the summmer, use organics as much as you want.

Here are some answers to your questions.

Each watering is about 1/2 inch of water. I put bowls out on various parts of the lawn and at the end of 30 minutes each bowl had about 1/2 inch in it. I am using the same schedule as I used last year after the lawn got established.

The sod I put in is called Medallion Dwarf with Bonsai (http://www.pacificearth.com/cont/medbonsai_specguide.pdf) It is blend of dwarf fescues.

Currently my mower is set on the mid height setting which is about ~2 inches. I think I will raise it up one notch.

Maybe I will go get some Miracle Grow organic lawn fertilizer this week and put it on. Or another type of organic fertilizer.

6 months after in put in the lawn last year, it was still looked like as green as a golf course, and I guess that is what I am trying to get back to. I got spoiled by having a super green lawn last year.

It looks like the finer cultivar is dying, while the wider bladed one is OK, except the tips are brown, might be time to sharpen your mower blade. Perhaps you have a fungus or disease that is only affecting one of the fescue varieties, and the only thing you can do is let it run its course. Here's another thing to consider...sod can be tricky. You are basically putting it in a different environment than what it is used to. Sod farms provide everything that the grass needs to be healthy. Then they cut it and an inch or so of soil, roll it up and deliver it. When you lay it down, and it starts growing new roots, these roots now go into your soil, which can be completely different from the soil it was growing in. How did you prep the soil before the sod was laid? Did you do a soil test with micronutrients? It sounds like you have provided enough N-P-K, but what about iron, calcium, sulfur, magnesium, etc? What is your soil's pH? All these things might have some affect on your lawn's health and appearance.

Also add some Ironite and Epsom Salts to your fertilizer, I just mix both into a bag of fertilizer so when i apply it always has some fresh being added to the soil in limited amounts.
