Well I found some cable the same size as the cable used for the cable drive system. I have not put it on yet and will have to use some cable clamps on the ends. As for the rear wheels, I assume the rubber is worn out/off? If so, as I recall, new wheels cost about $35 ea!! I think if you look, you will see about 4 rivets that hold the gear to the plastic wheel. Drill those out, remove the gear and use small bolts to attach the gear to regular $7 wheels as used in this series non self-propelled mowers. I have those spare parts but need to keep them for myself. Walt Conner

"Does seem coincidental that both keys would be broken, though." A son uses this mower and I noticed when I sharpened the blade a while back that the mower was only pulling with one wheel but I was busy and didn't want to fool with it. Now neither is/was pulling. Yes,I have a diagram and parts list from the Internet. The keys are not broken but I think the edges are worn until they no longer engage inside the gear. I substituted parts from a sacrificial mower and I THINK it is going to work for now at least. "if you're considering selling it, I'd be interested." How about a genuine collector's item, a D400, "brick top" magnesium deck that runs great. I really don't want to box it up to ship though. Walt Conner

Hey Walt- Thanks for juming in. The engine turns over fine,it's just doesn't fire. Once it cools it runs great for a few minutes of mowing and then does as stated. I've only had the mower since early last year. I can say without doubt that I've never put straight gas in it. I use the ECHO synthetic that others here have suggested. The cables are in bad shape but otherwise the mower looks great and has been performing flawless. I hate dealing with cables. Brake and gear cables on a bike have always aggrivated me and Santa Claus. Tim
