Lawn Boy Drive

I have a Lawn Boy 10515 which has stopped pulling. Everything is OK into the rear wheels. What part/parts are most likely needed. I see what is called a "Rocker Key". Is this probably the only thing needing replaced?

Walt, have you taken the clutches apart or are you looking at the diagram? BTW, if you're considering selling it, I'd be interested.

Walt, I just remembered that someone had a problem recently with their Personl Pace not pulling on one side (uses same wheel clutches as 10515). They found out it was a broken rocker key, so yes you may be correct. Does seem coincidental that both keys would be broken, though.

BIN of $375 plus $75 S&H. Reserve probably $350. I doubt if he gets it. He didn't even put a new blade on it. I might go $100 for something like that just for rough work in the wooded section.

Thanks bogman for the info, I am going to use 1953. I was 12 then and my last year of Little League. Remember my Dad saying that this was the first rotary mower. I just now have to decide what asking price when I sell it. I guess I can claim to being the oldest guy on here unless saxman1 lets us know how old he is. Thanks a lot for everybodies help.

Just a note on RWD and turning; you release the drive bail right before the turn and pivot the mower on the rear wheels as usual, picking up the drive bail as you push off from the turnaround. Nothing to it. You were obviously used to just holding the drive bail down through the turn as you pivoted on the rear wheels with the fronts off the ground. Of course it's even easier with Personal Pace (Sensa-Speed or whatever they call it on the LB).

On second thought, perhaps one rocker key broke which put additonal stress on the other, so I guess 2 broken keys may not be coincidental after all. Sorry for all the posts.

A son uses this mower and I noticed when I sharpened the blade a while back that the mower was only pulling with one wheel but I was busy and didn't want to fool with it. Now neither is/was pulling. Yes,I have a diagram and parts list from the Internet. The keys are not broken but I think the edges are worn until they no longer engage inside the gear. I substituted parts from a sacrificial mower and I THINK it is going to work for now at least.

How about a genuine collector's item, a D400, "brick top" magnesium deck that runs great. I really don't want to box it up to ship though.

Sounds like you corrected the problem, Walt. I think the other parts should be okay. I took apart a spare SP unit last year for cleaning and inspection and the only thing I replaced was a bushing (one had backed out of the pivot arm assem.).

I'll bet that mag deck/bricktop D400 is a beauty!

Well I don't know what a K321S is and the Lawn Boy look up says there is no such thing. I have 7 or 8 LBs. but most of them are not here at the house.

Walt, A K321S that Ken spoke about may be a Kohler engine. I believe there is one by that model number.

That is correct, it is a Kohler engine, and a while back you had said you had one. I need one and saw this in your post back. If you still have it would like to know?

OK, I am old and slow. It finally dawned on me in the night, had my mind set on LB. The 14 hp Kohler sold quickly to a puller. Wish I had a dozen K341s.
