Yup........that is right, it is a C-12. I found all the parts needed and the shop was local. They had been a Lawnboy dealer years ago and at one time bought out another dealer of its parts when it went out of business. The parts weren't cataloged so we spent quite a bit of time looking into many different drawers and shelves but he had the Microphish for the motor and the old numbers which was how this old stock was labeled. Only thing we didn't find was one gasket so I just made one. Now it is cleaning it all up and putting her back together. Question: the piston did not have any marks on it as to how it goes back into the cylinder such as markings of "top" or an arrow indicating exhaust port side-----is there supposed to be? Also, there are no pins in the ring grooves to keep the rings from turning within the cylinder and potentially getting caught on an exhaust port---do Lawnboy pistons have the pins? What about the position of the ring gaps-------what do you guys recommend since there are no pins. There are only 2 rings. I have mixed some paint that will match the original scheme (ugly) as close as one can get and so I decided to restore her as close as one can to when she was new including the yellow lettering that I made a stencil of so I can hand paint on the motor cover. This project has taken on a life of its own. It is going to be so good looking and like new running, I am not going to want to mow with it. Anyone know of someone or a business that might be interested in displaying a 1956 Lawnboy? I don't know what I am going to do with it once I get it done. Thanks John

As was suggested much earlier, the problem was the muffler after all. I could blow air through it with a shop vac but after talking with a local Toro/Lawnboy shop I realized that the muffler probably wasn't as open as it should be. So... cooked the muffler using the side burner of my gas grill on the deck. Muffler fumed, eventually fumes caught fire (no worse than unattended spare ribs on the grill) and I let go for an hour or so. Let it cool, dumped about a cup of carbon chunks and flakes out. Reinstalled muffler. Mower runs fine.

There are two bagging kits and two bagging port covers. One cover is plain and is used for side-discharging. The other cover has a side-discharge blocking plate attached and is for mulching. There are two bagging kits - rear bag and side bag. The LB site shows the rear bag set for your application. The discharge chute for the rear bag set is black, and green for the side bag set. The side bag usually holds more, plus there is a larger leaf bag available for it, but of course the side bag limits your mowing options. I just saw both rear and side bag parts and kits on ebay. The kit I saw on the LB site looks like the standard rear-bagging set used on all the late LB models before the 'Insight' 4-cycle series. There will be two holes in your deck for the steel support rods - one for the chute, one for the bag frame. I used the rear bag set-up for about 15 years on a 10201 and a 10550 and never had any problems with it.

Search the site for people putting CDI Unit the oven and baking for 1 to 1-1/2 hours. I forgot what temp they are using. Unplug the "Kill Wire" first and see if it has spark then. By the way, it would have to be almost unimaginable dirt, rusted on the surfaces you mentioned to keep the magnetic energy from doing its' job. Walt Conner
