I see alot of the Green forms on the net.growing in peoples yard,some very large.Why I am trying the blue form is because its another color besides green,its blue alright, it almost looks like a glowing powdery blue next to the dark green lawn,and yes its more cold hardy.I try growing plants in general with different leaf color and shape and texture.To me it makes for a more interesting landscape.If everything was green,to me most landscapes would look pretty boaring.Im not saying that people that have all green plants have boaring landscapes,because you can have a good looking yard with all green plants.There are many shades of green.I have many plants besides palms that are a different color besides green theres ,red,yellow,blue,purple,etc.Im talking about leaf or stem color not flower color.Ive been looking on the net. at a silver Sabal minor,because its another color.Theres actually a palm that is red,but its not cold hardy enough for me.I look more at leaf color,shape,size,and texture, than bloom color.Most plants bloom for only a short time but leaf color last all season long.Dont get me wrong this is just my opinion.I ordered a Phoenix Sylvestris,I know Im pushing the cold limits of this palm,but Its has silver fronds.You all here on this garden forum have insrired me to see if I can grow a palm that is rated zone 8.

Hello Joe ... I am one of those guilty folk who have not ... until a few minutes ago ... thanked you for your response to my query on the Bay Tree. I also posted this query in Trees so must go look to see if anyone has since responded there. To be honest, I gave up looking for a response to my query after 5-6 weeks, probably about the time you responded. I have not visited GardenWeb since as I am really only interested in the Med section and the inactivity is painful in my opinion. As far as the adverts, this seems to be the 'in' thing on many sites. I have been a member for 3 1/2 years on a VERY active UK gardening forum where people post day and night (and was a Mod but resigned for my own reasons) and they have recently taken to Google ads which is annoying many people ... not only that my also are now suggesting donations in order to get rid of these ads !!!!!!! I am also a Mod on an expat forum here and admittedly I only look once a day as there may be no postings for a couple of weeks at a time, if not longer !!! I find it hard to get around this forum (possibly because I really don't know it). It doesn't seem that once someone responds that that post goes back to the top of the list and you have to scroll down looking for your query (or response to a query). Not that you have to scroll far due to the infrequent activity here. I shall now go and look at the Portuguese query here and see if I can be of assistance. Victoria

Oh, Nik, that's a beautiful bike with striking blue! :-) Love it! The one with 4' tall wind screen is mine. It's the same bike in my user id photo, that photo was taken by a reporter 3/4 years ago when I was at a charity run, I added a tall wind screen later. It works great to block the wind and bugs, but I can't see much in the rain, so it's my dry weather bike. If the weather might rain, I'd take my Vespa 300gts super or Honda Big Ruckus. Riding is just my weekend hobby. I also have 2 little working horses-Honda Ruckuses, I ride them for going to Lowe's, Gym, Library within 3 miles, they don't go fast, but very useful and fun (top speed 42mph, 100mpg), I carry potting soil on little Ruckus all the time, have a pic somewhere.....,

In the subheading under the MG forum title is this explanation of intent: "This forum is meant for the discussion of master gardener programs as well as other volunteer gardening opportunities." So it is more about the program itself and really little if anything to do with plant problem solving :-) That's why I stated that the Garden Clinic forum was the best place to post those sort of questions. And to be absolutely honest, there is a wide variance in skill level and experience with MG's - some are extremely knowledgeable; some not so much. There is also a big difference in being able to ID a plant and to ID or diagnose a plant disease or pest issue and recommend treatment - some folks have skills and experience in one area, some in the other and some have both. I am fortunate to have a degree in horticulture so I am moderately (and I emphasize moderately.....I am not an expert in either) experienced in both. That is actually my profession - I am a consulting horticulturist - so I just kind of smoosh my experience doing that on a daily basis into my participation on GardenWeb :-)) Of course folks can post questions in any forum they think appropriate but most are intended for quite specific issues. And if asked which forum is the most appropriate, I would direct them there. But if there is an obvious plant problem on a forum which does not specifically address plant problems and I feel comfortable commenting on it, I will. I hope this answers your questions.
