Which is best for container gardening--EarthBox or EarthTainer?
Comments (8)If you are growing tomatoes, earthtainers are the way to go! I have both this year and in the earthbox, I have one black cherry tom and in one of the tainers I have a black cherry sharing with an Indian Stripe. The tainer cherry is shooting out of the top of the inverted cage, at least 7 feet tall on about 4 stems. It probably has 100 or more toms on it right now (multiple clusters of more than 10 toms) and probably 30 have come off of it already. The B.C. in the earthbox is about 4 feet tall and probably has 30 toms on it with maybe 10 already picked. It is healthy and happy, but the one in the tainer is a beast! I can't speak to the other veggies as I haven't tried them. Good luck....See MoreEarth boxes??? or buckets??? for tomatos
Comments (16)Since my last post I went to www.earthbox.com and looked at some of there videos. They had a video of a commercial tomatoe operation that grows in looks like hundreds of earthboxes. They use coir coconut husks as a medium. They use a Florida Weave support system with two plants per box it looks like but they have tremendous looking tomatoes that are uniform in size and with few blems. They pick before they get fully red. Looks like the way to go from a cost basis and sustainability. They are also organic completely. I increased my order to 6 boxes instead of 3 and if goes well will probably start buying a bunch more. I want to get completely away from produce from the food stores with the unrest in world I think we need to be more food self-sufficient....See Morelaminate on bathroom vanity (advise to do-it-yourselfer please)
Comments (3)I think pre-made laminate counters can be had quite cheaply. Looked it up, Lowe's website has a 6 foot laminate ready to install for $67. YOu'd have to cut the hole for the sink though. Still has to be easier than buying supplies and tools and attempting it yourself, and maybe messing up...I'm sure they could tell you what to cut it with. You can rent the proper saw if you need to (from them or rental places)Depot's site didn't list any, but I know they have them. Also, try Craigslist.com , you might get lucky! http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=productDetail&productId=142966-1110-4724116L&lpage=none Here is a link that might be useful: counters...See MoreDo-it-yourself gutter toppers that actually work?
Comments (1)I bought some plastic screens that slide under the shingles and snap onto the gutter at Lowes. I have a huge maple tree with lots of helicopter seeds. They work really well. A box of them was around $40. I see now they have improved upon these by adding a micro mesh to the backside, this would filter out even more debris....See More- 15 years ago
