Common support structures are trellises, wires, strings, or existing structures. Use a container large enough so you can dig a hole large enough for the root ball.

Do not use permanent ties as the plant will quickly outgrow them. Use soft, flexible ties (twist-ties work well), or even strips of pantyhose, and check them every few months.

Make sure that your support structure is strong, rust-proof, and will last the life of the plant. Anchor your support structure before you plant your climber.

Plan ahead by adding a trellis to the pot, especially if the container will not be positioned where a support for the vine is not readily available

Below is a link to a discussion about this plant at Dave's Garden. One poster mentioned he or she had it in a large 24" pot, so apparently it can be grown in containers if they're large enough. Another poster from San Diego mentioned that the vine had become a pest the second year and terribly invasive!

But they certainly have beautiful, fragrant, and fascinating flowers, don't they?

I planted one in a pot this year. I have stakes around the edge of the pot and they are all tied at the top (like a tepe). So far, it seems to be doing well. I have it in almost full sun (some morning and lots of afternoon). I saw one at a nursery last fall and it was in a container too and about six feet tall and full of blooms. I think you can prune it in the fall and bring it inside if it is not hardy in your zone. The prunings can be rooted for more plants.
