A funny thing happened at work today!

I'm an electrician, so I keep wire nuts in my jacket pockets, you never know when you will need a few!This morning I was helping a co-worker repair some lights.

He ran out of wire nuts and asked me if I had some. I said sure, I reached in my pocket and handed him a handful. He busted out laughing when he looked at them.

He held out his hand and there were about 5 or 6 wire nuts and about 20 butter bean seeds!

in my case, the change purse of your wallet is full of Live Oak acorns I collected down on the beach.....need to get those sowed into pots. :)

Well, I suppose I could try harder to watermark my future photos, but there's no way I'm going back to watermark all of the past ones. I don't really see the need though. All of those googled photos came from this forum, HMF or my blog. None were pirated by another website. If there were a way to make money from my photos - or my blog - I would love to, and I would protect the photos, but since I can't figure out the blogger monetizing system, I think not. And unless the watermark is plastered across the middle of the photo, it can easily be cropped out. Then what? I'd rather let a beautiful photo be seen. I kind of think that if someone wants to prevent the replication of their photos, they shouldn't put them on the web, because the instant they're up there, they're gone. Like Hoovb noted, China has probably never heard of the honor system and obviously doesn't respect copyright laws. I post my photos to bring pleasure to other gardeners and to cultivate interest in OGRs. And Connie, your saying that my photos caused you to acquire Bermuda's Anna Olivier is a thrill. I wish I got that kind of feedback more often. I sure hope she does well for you. This is only my perspective as someone who does not make my living with my photos like Floridarosez said. As madroneb said, they were little bulbs not seed. The little bulbs are up and growing now! I tilled up a small spot, smoothed, and spread them over it. Then I covered them with some used potting soil so that it would be easy for them to break through. They are about 2" high now. I think they all came up! I thinned them Sunday and replanted the ones I pulled, They had good roots and they look like they are recovering nicely. I hope they make it through the winter! I think they will because we rarely have frozen ground here. I didn't count but I would say that I have about 50 or more.

Last year I went out to plant my tulips. I thought I would change things up and put them in all new places. I went out with my shovel, thought about where I could put them and started digging. Every hole I dug, I found last years tulips. Yup, I couldn't come up with a new plan. I was trying my darndest to do something new, but couldn't.

Your poor mom--she sounds like a hoot, though. Guess the only funny thing was my sister's adopted dd who kept asking to see my other niece's ring. This ring was among my mom's things when we were cleaning out her apt after she died on Thanksgiving. It was beautiful, and obviously a 'good' ring (diamond set in a beautiful filigree of white 18 gold), so we gave it to my one niece who was the closest to her. So anyway, the other niece kept saying stuff like, "Oh, I saw you wearing that at the funeral. It's so beautiful. I just love that ring. I always remember Mom Mom wearing it and loved seeing her in it" and so forth and so on. Here's the funny part--NO ONE in the family had EVER seen this ring before we found it among mom's stuff. Mom only wore yellow or preferably rose gold, never white gold. And the really funny part of this story? The ring is a size 4.75 (and fits my dainty niece perfectly) but my mom's ring finger was a size NINE--she couldn't have put this ring on with a shoe horn and a jack hammer--LOL! Well, fortunately, the niece wearing it, didn't take the bait, and kept it on her finger. She's the one who was truly the closest to my mom and deserved this beautiful antique ring. I actually had it checked out and cleaned before I gave it to her. It's an antique setting, the diamond is a specific cut that had to be done either the late 1800's or the very first few years of 1900. The setting, I was told, would have been made in the 1910's, definitely before 1920. Our best guess is it probably belonged to mom's mother--who, from all reports, was a tiny little thing. Anyway, that was about as funny as it got yesterday--unless you count the moment when I unwrapped a present that looked like a sculpture made of driftwood, and didn't realize that it was a birdhouse. Think I hurt my sister's feelings, but the opening for the birds to use was so well hidden, that it was hard to figure that out. Hope the birds can find how to get into it.

Nice! I've though I've found a dollar bill in my pocket only to discover it was an empty seed packet. But at least I've not tried to pay with one of those, unlike last week when I pulled a box of heartworm meds out instead of my wallet. That got a chckle from the cashier.

Daylily seeds and pods are small enough to lose in my jeans pockets; crocus seeds are harvested less often, but are smaller and even easier to lose track of. Later in the year, ground cherry fruit or very small tomatoes may not make their way out of my pockets when I get to the house, but as they are larger I tend to discover them within a few hours rather than a day or two.

LOL! I love that! I have a parrot and use pine-nut seeds in the shell as a bribe for good behavior and have (accidentally) tried to pay for things with them instead of change! :-)

When I got to work this morning I had a place-card on my desk, it read, "Farmer Ted keeps bean seeds in his pocket, just in case he feels the urge to plant!". They all had a good laugh, I did too!

I'm their go to guy about gardening and farming. They know that I know a little more than an average person, since I grew up on a farm, garden, and read a lot. Plus I can find the answers on this forum if I don't know them!

I do community gardening, so I'm often out and about wearing work clothes.
I bus everywhere and have to be careful that when I pay I don't plonk down a handful of dirt, seed-packet tops, random seeds, leaves that found their way into my pocket...
