That's hilarious FlamingO! Last night Alex and I were playing late into the night, playing Risk. It's that war game with the little men/canons/horse&men, (older game was little wooden blocks), that you move over the world and conquer different countries one by one?

Anyway we were both getting tired of the game (and just plain tired), he was going to win, because I only had Austrailia and part of Asia, he had the rest of the world and kept building up his armies and only attacking one or two of my countries a turn. I finally told him to just destroy me and get it over with. So, he did, but every time he had to roll into the country he conquered he'd get a "1" and wasn't able to attack me anymore. It happened over and over and we were loao. A lot of times when he was able to attack he'd have 40+ men against my one or two but he'd keep losing to me, which only prolonged the game.

I would love to meet your Mum, Flamey she sounds like a blast.

With our two kittens everyone was laughing their heads off over their antics. They are hillarious running and attacking each other. Everyone was amazed at how good Smokey was with them.

That is funny Flamingo! I just can't see that coming out of a little old ladie's mouth!

My nephews were making fun of my SIL's Christmas-y sweater and that had me cracking up. Can't remember exactly what they said...but the look on her face was priceless.

My mishap was last Christmas. We were leaving my moms house. The kids ages 4,6,and 8 were in the car with the gifts. I walked out of the house with a platter of food. I couldnt see my footing on the concrete stairs. I lost my balance and tumbled down. Everything was quite when then you hear my 3 kids laughing hystarically in the car. Luckily nothing was broken and i found the humor in it the next day as i nursed my wounds.

I gave my GGS a Transformer that had his Dad, GDad, an Uncle and one or two Aunts working to put together.

One of the funny things was captured on pictures, and is posted on todays picture post. Go check. :)

Now I've heard everything! How funny that your mom said that! She must watch a lot of news or read the papers to be so "hip" to events! :-)

We always laugh when we play after supper Christmas bingo and the number game (we played that twice).
We do regular gifts and gag gifts. Then first two feather boas and tiara sets were won by guys who happily modeled them. I won a can of potted meat and tried to trade it by holding it like I was in a commercial and stroking the can (I brought it home).
My sister was sitting beside me and by the end of the games I had stolen all her presents one at a time. When she would turn her head I would show everyone what I had stolen.
The laughing is the best part of getting together.

Christmas eve... Summer is getting the cookies out for Santa and comes out to the living room. She looks perfectly innocent in her cute little pajamas and her big smile. She says, "Mom, instead of milk, can we leave Jack and Coke for Santa?" LOLOL

I said, "Sure! Santa would love that!"

Yes.....If anything on your home is going to go on the blink....it WILL be on the ONLY Holiday of the year....that there is no one on "call" for repairs.

Plumbing problem. Not able to use the bathroom. Really nice. Thank Goodness we had the Motorhome. The dogs went crazy every time we went into the Motorhome for the bathroom. They think they are going on a trip.

Your poor mom--she sounds like a hoot, though.

Guess the only funny thing was my sister's adopted dd who kept asking to see my other niece's ring. This ring was among my mom's things when we were cleaning out her apt after she died on Thanksgiving. It was beautiful, and obviously a 'good' ring (diamond set in a beautiful filigree of white 18 gold), so we gave it to my one niece who was the closest to her.

So anyway, the other niece kept saying stuff like, "Oh, I saw you wearing that at the funeral. It's so beautiful. I just love that ring. I always remember Mom Mom wearing it and loved seeing her in it" and so forth and so on.

Here's the funny part--NO ONE in the family had EVER seen this ring before we found it among mom's stuff. Mom only wore yellow or preferably rose gold, never white gold. And the really funny part of this story? The ring is a size 4.75 (and fits my dainty niece perfectly) but my mom's ring finger was a size NINE--she couldn't have put this ring on with a shoe horn and a jack hammer--LOL!

Well, fortunately, the niece wearing it, didn't take the bait, and kept it on her finger. She's the one who was truly the closest to my mom and deserved this beautiful antique ring. I actually had it checked out and cleaned before I gave it to her. It's an antique setting, the diamond is a specific cut that had to be done either the late 1800's or the very first few years of 1900. The setting, I was told, would have been made in the 1910's, definitely before 1920. Our best guess is it probably belonged to mom's mother--who, from all reports, was a tiny little thing.

Anyway, that was about as funny as it got yesterday--unless you count the moment when I unwrapped a present that looked like a sculpture made of driftwood, and didn't realize that it was a birdhouse. Think I hurt my sister's feelings, but the opening for the birds to use was so well hidden, that it was hard to figure that out. Hope the birds can find how to get into it.

At our Christmas Eve gathering, we were all seeted around the living room and opening gifts one at a time.

Most of you know what a PET person I am! (NOT AT ALL!)
I was holding Riley, the dog who belongs to our oldest two DGSs.) He is a little yorkie-poo. After a while I put him down on the floor and when our youngest DGS Aaron (4 years old) from our DD's family, came by me I picked him up on my lap. This has never happened before, but the dog got jealous and started barking at poor little Aaron and trying to bite his stocking feet. In a split second Aaron was down across the room and leeped onto the couch and wedged himself behind Daddy, so the dog couldn't get him. Everyone else was laughing so hard we hardly even noticed how serious both the dog and Aaron were. I didn't get Aaron on my lap again.

Honestly, I have noticed many times, how quick that little 4 year old sweety is at handling situations. He always amazes me!

Oh, another funny thing! We did a White Elephant exchange. Andrew our 13 year DGS got a can of "Anti-Monkey-butt powder" LOL No one ever heard of it before, but we sure all got a GREAT laugh out of that. One of the older guys wanted to trade with him, but he refused. He said he always regrets the "What did you get for Christmas, question, when he gets back to school. This year he is really looking forward to it! He is a riot!

Flamey, you get your sense of humor and wit from your Mom, as Judy says. She sounds like so much fun. I'll bet the 2 of our Mom's could give us a howling time if they were ever to meet.

LOL You guys have some neat stories. The GDs got ready to go to bed Christmas Eve and their smartaleck DB (age 21) says, "Hey, ya'll forgot something!?" When one of them asked, what, he said, "You forgot to put out some beer and pickled eggs for Santa Claus!" You should have seen the eye rollin' they gave HIM! LOL

Jack and Coke, pickled eggs and beer? Hey, who knows WHAT Santa would rather have!? LOL

DH got the Harry Potter 5 DVD, he had not seen the movie yet. DS age 5 got a Squawkey McCaw- loud life-sized parrot that sings and talks A LOT! DS was finally sent to play with the parrot in his room, door closed, when the rest of us were trying to watch the HP movie, but couldn't hear over the bird.

Half hour later DS comes tip toeing through the room, the bird tucked under one arm, DS' hand covering the bird's beak (still talking). Looked like he was kidnapping the bird- who wouldn't go quietly.

Couple years ago he was funnier. DD was given a realist doll that cried, but stopped when given its pacifier or bottle. The doll was unattended on the sofa, crying away. DS was about 2 1/2, tearing through the piles of empty boxes and crinkled giftwrap strewn across the floor. We didn't know what he was looking for. Til he found it- the doll's pacifier. He shoved it into the mouth and said, harshly, "THERE! Now be quiet!"

Oh, one more, will you humor me?
When DS#2 was about 3 my brother gave DS#1 age 6 then a toy that talked for Christmas. It was a "security" device- a 20" tall grasshopper (from the movie, "Bug's Life") that had a motion detector. When tripped by someone walking by, it said things like "You are unauthorized" or "Leave immediately" and "Back off!" The 3 y/o walked by it several times within an hour, each time forgetting about it and then startled by the voice. It told him to "Back off!" for about the 4th time. He turned to it, fighting stance, finger pointing in its face, and yelled "NO! YOU back off!"

Sorry, kids and talking toys, one thing led to another. It's a funny combination!

Oh, these are great stories. I'm sitting here picturing Santa getting loopy in PA and ending up with a pickled egg in his mouth in ArKINGsaw. And "Anti-Monkey-Butt Powder"? Who would have ever thought of that stuff? lol

My mom just kills me, she's so quick-witted, and yes- she's a news junkie, she's better informed than I am because she has the TV on all day, muted, and reads the scrolling stuff constantly.

I'm glad most of you had fun things to entertain you. If you didn't, at least these stories would after the fact!

My little cousins, Zachary (age 4) and Brandon (age 5) were fighting over a toy. Zachary went to Brandon's mother and said "You have to do something with him."
