A funny thing happened at work today!
Comments (10)When I got to work this morning I had a place-card on my desk, it read, "Farmer Ted keeps bean seeds in his pocket, just in case he feels the urge to plant!". They all had a good laugh, I did too! I'm their go to guy about gardening and farming. They know that I know a little more than an average person, since I grew up on a farm, garden, and read a lot. Plus I can find the answers on this forum if I don't know them! Thanks to all of you that help me help out others!...See MoreWell, A funny little thing happened when I began to Winter Sow...

Duct tape - Check! Got that too! Both white and siver! 5.) Sharp utility knife - Check! Sissors at hand! 6.) Permanent marker - Check! Sharpie is ready 7.) Soil/growing medium - Um, um, um...... Bag's open, all soft and fluffy! Rose of Sharon are seeds waiting for me to take my "Leap of Faith". They got wet last week and have been in the fridge ever since. They are begging for me to sow them... I need to shut them up today!! I have a 2# deli container filled with soil mix, some nice holes cut into the bottom edges. Soaked it down with the sprayer to check the drainage... One baby, two baby, three baby seeds, press 'em down a bit. Almost done... now get that container outside and then into the cold frame it goes.... NOT! Well, hells bells! What the heck?!? The dang door's frozen SHUT! I hear a quiet voice.... "Well Momma, why don't ya get the hair blower on that freakin' door and get us the heck out of this heat?" Well ya little sh%t... the hair dryer broken! One more word out of you and it's into the freezer ya go! and later that day.... "Hey Mom? When are we going to have that stuff in the freezer for dinner? I want to go to Corey's house for dinner that night!"...See Morefunny thing happened at the paint store
Comments (6)Last year I went out to plant my tulips. I thought I would change things up and put them in all new places. I went out with my shovel, thought about where I could put them and started digging. Every hole I dug, I found last years tulips. Yup, I couldn't come up with a new plan. I was trying my darndest to do something new, but couldn't....See MoreAny funny things happen on Christmas Day where you were?
Comments (21)Your poor mom--she sounds like a hoot, though. Guess the only funny thing was my sister's adopted dd who kept asking to see my other niece's ring. This ring was among my mom's things when we were cleaning out her apt after she died on Thanksgiving. It was beautiful, and obviously a 'good' ring (diamond set in a beautiful filigree of white 18 gold), so we gave it to my one niece who was the closest to her. So anyway, the other niece kept saying stuff like, "Oh, I saw you wearing that at the funeral. It's so beautiful. I just love that ring. I always remember Mom Mom wearing it and loved seeing her in it" and so forth and so on. Here's the funny part--NO ONE in the family had EVER seen this ring before we found it among mom's stuff. Mom only wore yellow or preferably rose gold, never white gold. And the really funny part of this story? The ring is a size 4.75 (and fits my dainty niece perfectly) but my mom's ring finger was a size NINE--she couldn't have put this ring on with a shoe horn and a jack hammer--LOL! Well, fortunately, the niece wearing it, didn't take the bait, and kept it on her finger. She's the one who was truly the closest to my mom and deserved this beautiful antique ring. I actually had it checked out and cleaned before I gave it to her. It's an antique setting, the diamond is a specific cut that had to be done either the late 1800's or the very first few years of 1900. The setting, I was told, would have been made in the 1910's, definitely before 1920. Our best guess is it probably belonged to mom's mother--who, from all reports, was a tiny little thing. Anyway, that was about as funny as it got yesterday--unless you count the moment when I unwrapped a present that looked like a sculpture made of driftwood, and didn't realize that it was a birdhouse. Think I hurt my sister's feelings, but the opening for the birds to use was so well hidden, that it was hard to figure that out. Hope the birds can find how to get into it....See Morehoovb zone 9 sunset 23
