Floof post: Cleaning "schedules?"
Comments (30)The (nationally franchised) cleaning service that I have hired occasionally for a deep clean is ruining the finish on all my brass lamps. I discovered that they use a 'dust rag' wrung out from a solution that contains something like Windex. They use this to dust and to wipe down furniture. I stipulate no use of abrasives (Ajax, Comet, etc.), but the cleaners will use these instead of the Bon Ami I provide if I'm not here. If it would take you X 'healthy-woman-hours' to thoroughly clean your house, how can a service can do it in so much less time -- and make money? I would also guess that a 'standard rate' means that when I pay it to have my neat, newer, one floor, easy-clean house cleaned, I'm subsidizing the person with a cluttered, old, multi-floor, hard-to-clean house. (That's the 'averaging' in effect for our cleaner on Maui. Most guests are neat; a few are pigs; she's paid the same amount per cleanout.) My housekeeping style is pretty much like Nicole's. I keep a neat house -- easier when you have a neat DH and no pets now -- but I am not interested in virtually sanitizing everything daily or weekly. I clean "as needed" and to a standard of "clean enough", meaning that we are comfortable, and that I would not be embarrassed to have anyone walk through my house at any time of the day. I'd rather 'keep up' than 'marathon clean'....See MoreFloof post: Getting ready....
Comments (29)Maybe eld . However, these were not coworkers at all. They were truck drivers, either bringing stuff in or picking stuff up. Mr. Kit Kat comes in frequently, and is rather obnoxious anyway, and Reeses boy just started coming in there recently, and had no clue that he was talking to the treat provider/decorator. Again,I don't think I feel ownership over the treats. They are for everybody. I am just amazed at how rude and obnoxious some people can get about something that supposed to be a nice gesture and fun. (How DARE you not make sure that there is more than 1 free Reeses cup!) As for money,I do get contributions. It's usually the same people every year. So far, in my pumpkin pig I've brought in about 30 bucks. I don't get annoyed if people don't contribute and they get a treat or two.I get annoyed when people don't contribute, yet come get enough snacks to live off of. Or I get annoyed at the people who work in that office with me,as i mentioned above. They will nag people to put change in the pig(something I NEVER do. I put the pig by the candy for those that want to put in. I don't ever TELL people to put money in it. ),yet I get nothing from them, and they eat more than anyone. It's a year round thing though really. The obnoxious entitlement that is.We provide them with free coffee. As a courtesy. They often complain that we only have regular and hazelnut coffeemate, not this or that flavor. They actually think it is a job requirement for us to drop whatever are doing if the coffee pot is empty and make it for them. Someone actually yelled at me that they would have me fired for not "doing my job" and get off the phone with a customer that second and make him some free coffee. Yeah. Good luck with that. You can't be nice to some people. They become rather entitled. I don't get it. But, I refuse to let the few doofuses dampen my Halloween happiness, especially as I got my Charlie Brown working, and that made my whole month. I can feel it. This is the year that the Great Pumpkin finally shows up....See MoreAnother "floof" post.
Comments (35)I probably told this one already, but it's my favorite... My very young son was in the backseat strapped in, during what was probably a very typical long afternoon car ride, and doing what toddlers typically do (frustrating their parent to death). Exasperated, I said outloud, "Lord please help me!" And son retorted back "Mom?! I'm right here!" (and I can hear you). Still makes me laugh. ETA: Steph you reminded me of another (I really love this kid). He acquired this really bad habit of getting out of bed every night. And we were told by the doctor to just keep putting him back, ignoring whatever he was saying or doing. The final time of putting him back to bed, he was told not to get out of bed until the sun came up. He actually stayed in bed, but he came up with every reason you could imagine, and some you might not, but the pinnacle came when shouted through his red-faced tears "You can't do this to me, I'm five!"...See MoreFloof- Little things you do for yourself that make you happy
Comments (45)Same as Amy....I don't deny myself anything if I want it and have the money. I do give consideration to whether or not I really need it, and sometimes I talk myself out of things....like another horse. I like going to thrift shops, auctions, yard sales, etc. My waterlilies and contemplating new ones that I want, and crosses that I want to make. Antique rose cuttings and planning for new ones and getting together with the Rose Rustlers to share cuttings. I eat what I want, when I want it. I don't diet or worry about gaining weight. I like sleeping with three or four of my cats. Walking with three of my dogs...the ones that mind the best and will stay right with me or immediately come back when I call them. I have wanted to walk in the Nati'l. Forest, and now that hunting season is over, I plan to do that...just hope I don't get lost like I did a couple of weeks ago, when I thought I was taking a short cut home, and ended up deep in the forest and stuck in the mud...at 9:30 at night with a dying phone and no flashlight. I enjoy my old horses and seeing them thrive, because almost all of them came from situations of severe neglect. I love when nothing is planned, no one is coming around, and I can spend the whole day by myself and just drift around the place, looking at the waterlilies, roses, fish, going to the old barn and seeing the bats in the hay loft. Fixing nice meals for my wild possums. Listening to my radio guy, who comes on twice a day....See More- 27 days ago
