Comments (21)Natal, I estimate I'm a hundred miles or so southeast of Caroline. I plant without regard to sun position most of the time. Even the north side of the house is sunny in summer. I have some aucuba cuttings tucked under some shrubs I haven't found a suitable shady spot. Most of my trees are limbed up high except for one live oak that grows horizontally. I'm always lopping off limbs. Under there is where I grow my Gingers -- something we haven't mentioned for shade. Gingers perform better for me than their companions the Hostas. Angelcub, we found that stone with the depression already hollowed out. If you google for 'stoneworking' you'll find some sites that are very instructive on how to chisel stone --I haven't tried it, yet. If your stones are sandstone or limestone, a power washer will shape them. I've tried that in a small way with a sharp blast with a garden hose nozzle but it's tedious. Comments (29)Lisa, we do pizza Friday's until football season and then it tends to shift to Sunday. Of course, since I've been set adrift tonight, I'm finding solace with the pizza thing. It's flat out shameful how ritualistic I can make the event. lol...See MoreFOTESS March Swap: It’s a GREEN Thing
Comments (175)Ruth, thank you for a fun green thing month...... RE: saving paper towels. I am always using in the kitchen/around the house...so, I rip them up and throw them in a metal container that I keep on the kitchen counter. The coffee grounds, scrap veggie stuff/whatever go in the container too. I do dump in my compost bins more than once a day. Last night, I was cleaning out my two kitchen junk drawers. Yes, most of the drawer went in to my metal container....lots of paper stuff. Slow Friday night for me LOL!!!! My sister bought a metal container (with lid) for this very purpose on Amazon, to keep by her kitchen sink. It is to small for me. Happy weekend FOTESSERS....Enjoy more March Madness (basketball). Comments (124)Tina Marie - no, I'm a Canadian living in Australia. Mostly, I couldn't care less about the Royals and their activities. I'm hopeful that both my countries will become republics in my lifetime. Although there's a fair bit of coverage of the family here in Oz, I only got interested in the subject when it appeared my Canadian taxes (which I still pay) might be diverted to pay for Harry's security in BC while he sat on a multi-million dollar inheritance. That didn't sit at all well with me, or with most Canadians, and probably colored my views. Part of my skepticism though, has nothing to do with Harry and Meghan specifically, but with charities in general. You look at the books for a lot of them, and in some cases surprisingly little of the money raised or donated goes to actual causes; the rest is absorbed by "administration" - advertising, salaries, overhead, etc. I'm very selective about who and what I donate to these days....See More- 4 months ago
