You gotta see this GH...
Comments (13)Hello again, I've been in chicago on family things. I'm definitely going to put in fans for air circulation. Hope to get them purchased this next few weeks. I like the moving air, but I don't think I'm ready for fans and louvers. I have those in the plastic house right next to the glass one. I have some tropicals in the house, nothing fancy. My daughters grow heirloom tomatoes and other plants for the spring shows in the house, such as peonies, ornamental grasses, lenton rose. Last year they grew a couple thousand plants. I grow my orchid's in the plastic house, more humidity, less sun and the automatic louvers for temp control are in there. They're quite happy in the plastic house. I could move the sun loving orchids (very few) to the glass house, but so far I haven't. I have considered automatic motors to open the roof vents of the glass house. They're probably going to be essential by spring. This summer all vents were wide open, both doors were open, and we watered every day. Shade cloth too. My biggest problem was I should have shaded the back (south wall) of glass too. This is the year to improve it all. Last few years was taken up just getting it back together. But, I'm going to put up the second frame too. It is exactly the same as the greenhouse I put up. The 'old' pictures show two houses. Tstrees...See MoreYou gotta see this sweet autumn
Comments (12)I agree Michael that there is something about zonal regions and the plant's ability to reseed. However I still think that there are many other types of clematis out there that are much longer blooming and floriferous. The other thing is that this one tends to get so much hype about how great it is and rarely is the possibility of reseeding mentioned. Not an issue if you live in a zone where reseeding is not an issue, but a big issue if you do and don't realize it. I agrees about SAC GG. My plant has not been fertilized in years and even in the drought conditions we have experienced the past two years it continues to do well with no watering by me. It is tough, but reseeds vigorously in my garden. I pulled up another vine just yesterday and have been cutting the seed heads off the plant over the past few years to prevent reseeding. Mine has just finished blooming and this year to help speed up the trimming of the seedheads I am going to cut all vines back by half rather than trying to cut off the tips of the branches. I was going to do it today but it is raining--not that I am complaining at all about the rain here though! Joan, my SAC didn't have any scent for the first two years or so it was in my garden. It does now. Don't give up on the fragrance just yet....See MoreIf you are building a staircase..you gotta see this!
Comments (11)Nice idea, but I too could see it being left open and someone falling in our house, or better yet the cat curling up in it for his nap, (which would be more dangerous for the person that stepped on him!) LOL! We did in our current small basement/playroom what che1sa posted. We turned it into a media/tv center for the kids, low to the ground so that the tv would not fall. We also put in pull out shelves for the dvd's, videos, games etc. I got the idea from something similar I saw in Southern Living mag. years ago. Ideamom are you building now or maybe your finished already?...See MoreYou gotta see this wedding video!
Comments (20)This was on the Today show yesterday. I was watching showbiz tonight & they had them doing the dance on the Today show. When I watched the video yesterday my eyes were rolling. When I watched it last night (the Today show version minus wedding attire) and again this morning, I still rolled my eyes. I think that if the song was shortened it may have had a different affect, but it was a bit too long; I wondered how hot, thirsty they all were from dancing up the isle, then running through the hall back to the main door to do it again. I also think if the dancing was a little better it would have made a difference; unless it was supposed to look like a bunch of men that couldn't dance and women that partially could. I give everyone credit for trying to be original but it's getting to be expected to see a choreographed dance at some part of the wedding. Next we will see the bride & her father along with groom & his mother choreographed. I loved my last wedding. Hubby & I went to Cypress Gardens in FL, just the 2 of us. The day was about us....See More- 28 days ago
