Weekend Trivia -- Sunday
Comments (16)It's the GB, the Goodyear blimp over the Ohio State Stadium. Homeland Security has designated the airspace around the Super Bowl as a no-fly zone during the game. I think you all ended up getting this, so for Cynthia, Plantlady, Greylady, Nancy, and Annette. Did I get everyone? Fun hints and good job on this, my friends, and thanks for playing trivia with me this weekend. Nice turnout. TM...See MoreWeekend Trivia: Sunday
Comments (15)Okay, here we go: 1. C. Ronald Reagan was the president who met Phil. Phil also met Oprah. 2. True. Of course, the one we had in our yard ran away from the raccoon and poked his nose out from under our steps to get the apples I tossed him. I thought he was a cutie. Maybe the internet is wrong on this. 3. A. Phil is right about 39% of the time according to the LiveScience site and the Parade magazine article "8 Crazy Facts about Groundhog Day." 4. The Groundhog Day celebration is rooted in a German superstition that says if a hibernating animal casts a shadow on Feb. 2, the Christian holiday of Candlemas, winter will last another six weeks. If no shadow is seen, legend says, spring will come early. 5. D. Yes Carol Channing was the first big star to do a half-time show at Super Bowl IV in 1970. They still included a marching band, Al Hirt, and Lionel Hampton with New Orleans jazz numbers. 6. B. The first Super Bowl is the only one broadcast on two stations simultaneously. It also is the only Super Bowl to have been simulcast in the United States by two networks: NBC had the rights to nationally televise AFL games, while CBS held the rights to broadcast NFL games; both networks were allowed to televise the game. It is also the only Super Bowl that was not a sell-out. Fours stars for all of you-feeling generous after the Super Bowl blowout! Thanks for playing all. Have a marvelous week! Comments (35)I am fixing beef and pork barbecue sandwiches, baked beans, fried potatoes and cole slaw plus a rich chocolate cake. This sounds great, Sue! Just the sort of meal DH (and I) would really like. We really like to make BBQ pulled pork in the slow cooker. Yum! He and our guys will also want hot wings, jalapeno poppers, chili-cheese dip with Tostitos Scoops, potato skins, etc, throughout the game. We'll be together with family next Sunday -- some pulling for the Saints, some pulling for the Colts. It ought to be verrry interrrresting, LOL. As for myself, I have mixed feelings -- I was a huge fan of Archie Manning eons ago when he was such a great QB for the then-perennially losing Saints (aka the "Aints" back then). I usually pull for his sons, both Peyton and Eli. I'd be in a real fix if the Colts and Giants met in the Super Bowl, LOL. Now Peyton, who grew up in Cajun country (as did several other Colts players), is going up against Archie's old team! It's almost surreal....See MoreNew Recipes For Super Bowl Sunday???
Comments (7)Nobody's coming over, so it'll be just me and hubby. I think we'll probably have nachos. Nacho Cheese flavored Doritos 1 can refried beans 1 lb. hamburger, browned & drained 1 8 oz. pkg shredded cheddar cheese Heat oven to 350 Spread refried beans on Doritos, and lay them side-by-side on a cookie sheet, just one layer. I can get about a third of a normal bag on my cookie sheet. Sprinkle crumbled, cooked hamburger over the chips, then sprinkle shredded cheese. I have a pretty heavy hand when it comes to the cheese, so I use the whole pkg. Bake 10 - 15 minutes, until cheese is melted & chips are hot. Eat immediately. Hubby and I can wipe out one cookie sheet between us. Sprinkle...See More- last month
