Weekend Trivia: Sunday
Comments (15)Okay, here we go: 1. C. Ronald Reagan was the president who met Phil. Phil also met Oprah. 2. True. Of course, the one we had in our yard ran away from the raccoon and poked his nose out from under our steps to get the apples I tossed him. I thought he was a cutie. Maybe the internet is wrong on this. 3. A. Phil is right about 39% of the time according to the LiveScience site and the Parade magazine article "8 Crazy Facts about Groundhog Day." 4. The Groundhog Day celebration is rooted in a German superstition that says if a hibernating animal casts a shadow on Feb. 2, the Christian holiday of Candlemas, winter will last another six weeks. If no shadow is seen, legend says, spring will come early. 5. D. Yes Carol Channing was the first big star to do a half-time show at Super Bowl IV in 1970. They still included a marching band, Al Hirt, and Lionel Hampton with New Orleans jazz numbers. 6. B. The first Super Bowl is the only one broadcast on two stations simultaneously. It also is the only Super Bowl to have been simulcast in the United States by two networks: NBC had the rights to nationally televise AFL games, while CBS held the rights to broadcast NFL games; both networks were allowed to televise the game. It is also the only Super Bowl that was not a sell-out. Fours stars for all of you-feeling generous after the Super Bowl blowout! Thanks for playing all. Have a marvelous week! Comments (13)Amen LuAnn. Never, ever those stinking, disgusting crows. Hahaha, ask me how I really feel about the purple pukes. lol Steelers fan here. Someone said to me "you have to root for Balt. coz if the 49er's win, they will have 6 super bowl rings, tying the Steelers record". I don't know if that's accurate or not but, my answer......? I would rather have every single team in the NFL have 6 super bowl rings than the Ravens ever, ever win. I could just gag seeing and hearing how people fall all over Ray Lewis. He should NOT have been playing these last 17 years, he should have been in jail....See MoreSuper Bowl food - alternative ideas
Comments (24)Lulu This is the recipe for the Asian rib marinade. IMO It doesn't make enough for marinading a slab of ribs and to have enough left over for basting so I double it. Use half to marinade for 1-2 hours. Cook at 375F for 1 hour and baste with the marinade every 20 minutes. After 1 hour baste again and then put under broiler for 5 minutes. A broiling pan lined with foil works best IME but you can also use a sheet pan. The recipe is from The Chinese Takeout Cookbook by Diana Kuan. 3 lb. ribs cut into individual bones 3 Tbls honey 2 Tbls Chinese rice wine 2 Tbls ketchup 1 Tbls hoisin sauce 1 Tbls soy sauce 1 tsp seseme oil 2 Tbls minced garlic 1/2 tsp Chinese five-spice There are some similar recipes on the Woks of Life website....See MoreSuper Bowl Pregame countdown discussion
Comments (77)I'm not going as far as diagnosing anybody-I'm just pointing out they aren't the "perfect" people some think. I still think TK crossed the line with his coach-there really is a little something off for him to do that to his coach. Most pro football players are a different breed of people-I should know, I dated one for years and then was briefly married at one point in my life. Many are not marriage material. They do have egos and it comes with the territory. But still..your coach??? And, TS has many young mom fans of these little girls that think she's this perfect role model-she's just not. She's not horrible though-just not the best role model little girls will see chugging a beer on national TV. I think many of us are a little disappointed and just thought she'd be more classy than that-that's all. I personally think she is so smitten with TK because this seems to be the first alpha she has dated. In the past, she has gone for more the beta type-this is something new to her. In the end, she happens to be a magnificent entertainer, and should be notably recognized for that. Again, no one is perfect. Anyway...I've grown tired of hearing and talking about all this....See More- 6 months ago
