Jackie and Ann, as you might know I am in Australia and will not be attending the talks. As mentioned in another thread here earlier, is there anyway of having the talk recorded with the Dr's permission and posted here somehow for those members like myself unable to attend, just a thought. I had a hard time with DS with his /L/ sounds. I would say "repeat after me.....yell." and he would say it just fine. Then I would say "repeat after me......mommy don't yell at me" and he would say it just fine. Then I would say "repeat after me.......yell....o" and he would say it just fine and then I would say "repeat after me.....yellow" and every time he would say "lellow". LOL! This was the case for like 4 years. He would also say "yight" instead of "light". I guess he just got his /y/ and his /l/ sounds mixed up. But it finally came along. Now all I have to contend with his his Northern Louisiana accent he got from his dad. All words ending in /th/ get a /f/ sound. For instance, "with" becomes "wif". Not sure how to contend with that, but I son't think it's necessarily a speech issue as it is a proper pronunciation issue. Good job, Ceph! You're gonna make a great SM!

Hi All,my son is 35 month old and not talking......not saying yes he even dont know how to response if mama is asking...like if i ask him do you want strawberries he repeats strawberries, if i ask him, u want this so he will repeat the last word...only when he wants and cannot able to say or express yess he repeats or he comes in the kitchen if he wants what i ask for...and if he dont want somethng he will clearly say 'no'he is talking only his alien language (gibberish) using 1 or two words like head or sit ,or pointing outside and saying mama look bird or tractor ,airplane he knows all the transportation names ,colors,count 1 to 16,shows Alphabets if i ask him what is this,he knows all body parts name,singing poetry with me at bedtime sometimes solo sometimes we sing together,he follows me if i say something to do..only when he understands what am saying..he tell me when he wants to go for pee ' mama pee '..but not potty trained yet....most of the things he pickdup from the tv...but not always he is sitting front of tv..he plays with all sort of toys ...very good with puzzles and name them too..he likes trains ,railroad crossing he even imitate and start doing it with hands ,watching tornado siren and playing with stick assuming it as a tornado siren,he plays with tractors ,cars,excavators ,his fav is cats which he takes them everywhere....he is not interested in drawing ,only scratch on papers, my concern is he dont understand fully what we are saying...and he talks but his own langauge..he makes eye contact with me and my husband ..but i have noticed him..he is making very little eye contact with others and when they ask him he is not responding may b becoz he doesnt know how to....he is friendly play with his frnd ,interact with others like saying hi ,shaking hands,saying bye tata but ...he respond to his name but when i ask what is your name he only repeats my sentence...he doesnt say his name when other ask him...i dont understand what to think on this plss any one having any answer to this or understanding what am trying to say plss help .Also we had appointment with Alberta health care to check him with his speech .and other developmentla delays if any. But it got cancelled bcoz of covid 19 we are waiting for tgem to call and reshedule us... Any suggestions from any one will b great help..Thank u

foodonastump, the house in L.A. has not increased in value over the past year and a half or so, but at least is remaining stagnant, whereas the house in Cathedral City has been increasing in value, and so there is that. I thought it would be better to stay in L.A. and for Kevin to look for work here, but he is dead set on moving to the desert and working remotely, even if he makes a lot less money. Our expenses will be lower there because of lower property insurance, but utilities are higher there, due to the cost of A/C, even though we have solar panels, which we are forced to rent, since that was a condition of buying the house. Food is cheaper in Cathedral City because we do most of our shopping at Cárdenas, an inexpensive Mexican market close to our house, and we do not have that many options for food shopping, relatively speaking. There are no Japanese markets, and the so-called "Asian" markets are really just Filipino, and I do not like Filipino food. I will probably have to make trips back to L.A. to do to Japanese and Korean markets for items that I cannot find online. At least I can get decent sushi at Gelson's in Rancho Mirage or at a sushi restaurant near my house in Cathedral City, but it still does not come anywhere close to what I can get in L.A. I also cannot get Ethiopian food in the desert, and so I will have to learn how to make injera bread - my attempts so far have not been great, but I can get teff flour online. We are also going to have to change all of our doctors, and this disturbs me even more. My doctor in L.A. said that I can find good doctors in Palm Springs, but I am not happy about having to make the change. I just hope it will be easier to get appointments than it has been in L.A.
