Does anyone have insight about the covid antibody tests?
Comments (13)I know that Quest Diagnostics has been in the news lately because they are now offering the test. Our granddaughter was also very sick in January, her college roommate stayed healthy. She did see the college physician and tested negative to the flu, recovery took a couple weeks. She would like to take the test to see if her plasma might help someone else, but is still waiting to hear which test is most accurate. Comments (77)We're Kaiser members, altho they suggest signing up with the county as well and just taking the first appt that comes up. We're both over 65 so just got our 2nd shots with Kaiser. Takes a bit of standing in line, but they're pretty efficient about it overall. No worse than waiting for a flu shot at peak times, LOL. One volunteer gives her own speech in the after-shot waiting area. I was told this but my spouse, who went on a much more crowded weekend, did NOT get told this by other volunteers working that day: SAVE THAT WHITE CARD! Even if you get a shot from Kaiser or Blue Shield (or wherever), this is a federal vaccination program. This card is the ONLY proof you will have that you have been partially/fully vaccinated. Zip, nada, nothing else. If you lose it, it CANNOT be replaced. There is no federal identification database - V-safe, the CDC's cellphone app (which is strictly voluntary sign-up), only tracks side effects per mfg type/batch # for statistical purposes. Thus, even tho we got our shots through Kaiser (showing our membership cards etc.) our assigned GPs were not involved nor aware of our vaccinations. Due to HIPAA regulations and the fact this is a federal program, Kaiser cannot issue any card replacement for its members. I would assume it is the same for any Blue Shield recipients, et. al. The volunteer suggested taking a photo of front and back of the card with your cellphone camera, so it's easily accessible. She keeps her card with her passport, in a safe place. I thought this was useful info, so hope it's of help to others....See MoreQuestion for those that had Pfizer vax
Comments (57)I had mine yesterday afternoon - more arm soreness than the first go round. I did wake up about 5am today with chills and feeling like I could stay in bed all day. Took some acetaminophen and ibuprofen and feeling a bit better. I did still have a low grade fever two hours after the acetaminophen. I thought this might be like Shingrix and so far that is the case. ETA: I felt tired and a bit chilled and achy the day after my jab and had a low grade fever. Second day now and I am completely back to normal. I thought ibuprofen relieved symptoms better than acetaminophen....See MoreAnyone not ever have covid 19?
Comments (154)I got the virus after being vaccinated. It was mild. Felt lousy for two days. My daughter insisted i get tested. I didn't think it was anything except stress due to my husband getting very sick and being in the hospital due to serious prostate problems. My test was positive for Covid and I was fine by the time I got the test results back. I thank the vaccine for my mild symptoms. This was April 2021. 2021 was the worse year of my life. Prior to the vaccines, the hospital was overwhelmed with Covid patients. My husband was moved to different floors, I was only allowed to visit for 1 hour and could never find him. The nurses were exhausted trying to handle the amount of very sick people. I think this Country did the right thing. Look at what is going on in China. They have no effective vaccines and majority of citizens have not been vaccinated. Their death tolls are kept quiet yet surveillance videos show the dead piled up outside crematoria. The vaccinations in this Country, helped protect those that chose to not get vaccinations by containing the spread. I was never a fan of flu shots or other vaccinations until I became very sick from the flu and wound up in the hospital. I was healthy and in my 40's until that year. I got a flu shot every year after that experience. I never got the flu again. We could be China without the vaccine. Jane...See More- 12 months ago
