my dog pees on my bed
Comments (3)I am no expert, but I have dealt with this before. This is my very humble opinion:) I think you are having an issue of jealousy. Did this start after the puppy became the center of attention? I know it sounds crazy, but I have had two friends and myself deal with this years ago. They are trying to get your, and your daughter's attention. It may not even be the younger dog that is initiating the jealousy. Do you leave them during the day? Are they alone maybe? One of my friends had a dog that started doing this and other horrible acts when he married. This dog had been his owners (alone) for many years, with no evil wife around:) The dog would tear up anything that was left down that smelled like the new wife. Kinda funny if you think about it, but not if you are experiencing it. This dog died of old age, but was never trained to stop the behavior. It was actually very sad....See MoreQuestion about negotiating my realtor's commission.
Comments (41)Wow, thanks again to everyone for all of the great advice. I believe our listing expires in December. I will have to double check. I have met some agents at open houses and have received a few recommendations from friends, so if/when the time comes to re-list I will find a more attentive realtor. We actually had a showing yesterday for the first time in over a month. I had about 45 minutes notice and have never cleaned so fast in my life! It's usually really clean but I was spending too much of my weekend organizing closets and cupboards again and delaying my deep cleaning. It looked good by the time we left but definitely not up to my usual "immaculate" standard. Our realtor did tell us about a month ago that a couple is very interested in our house but they are trying to get enough money together for their down payment. Not very promising, but it's nice to be wanted I guess. My husband and I compromised and are lowering the price $5500 for now. At least that brings us closer to 150k than 170k so that might help a bit. I honestly think our house is so much nicer, newer, and definitely bigger than the other homes in our price range, but I realize that location is everything and our location isn't ideal. So many homes in our range are so outdated and need a lot of work, whereas ours is move-in ready, so I'm just hoping someone will fall in love with it eventually and see the advantages of not having to fix anything once they move in. Well, if the house doesn't sell by the time our listing expires I will definitely review this thread and keep all of this great information in mind before signing a new contract....See MoreStomping my feet in anger; screeching; and
Comments (19)You all are reminding me how truly blessed I am. I know a man who lives not far from me, out here in the back of beyond, who can do just about anything along the lines of construction. He put a roof over my deck and made me a lovely screened-in porch, he put a new roof on my house, last year he completely rehabbed the house's exterior, built me a new gate for the fence, and cut down two large trees. I use an excellent heating/air conditioning specialist who certainly has gone the extra mile to keep my old heat pump going--local family operation. I found a plumber who--get this--works evenings and weekends, for the convenience of people who have jobs. It took me several years of screaming, cursing, pacing, throwing things, etc. and finally I found all these guys through word of mouth. Two of them do no advertising. I am ever so thankful that I know reliable, trustworthy people to call because I surely do remember what it was like before!...See MoreIn praise of scruffy hospitality
Comments (23)Great article on the room temp. foods and also making sure you have a way to keep the house cool, also stock up on cleaning supplies. I am totally into trying to figure out simple but fun menus. I did enough parties with 3 or 4 fru fru appetizers that no one touched to know that one good one is quite enough. Same with salads, sides, desserts, etc. Last tea party I had I literally threw together store bought phyllo tarts with store bought spinach dip, some store bought shredded cheese mixed in, and topped with a water chestnut slice. Was the most popular thing on the menu. I made three or four desserts, all of which ended up being leftovers, when I could have served one or two really nice ones and that would have been fine. Plus thankfully someone told me to offer up a pitcher of ice water. Note to self: mom's old pottery pitchers are really more for show than practical, filled with water they are darn heavy!...See More- 6 months ago
