A post was made regarding Medicare. The site has some really good info on it for seniors. We are adults and should think for ourselves. Unfortunately the original OP was bullied into removing her post. NEVER remove a post in response to a troll, narc or bully. They perceive it as a win. Ignore them and they will move on. Good info indeed, Wildchild. The Medicare Advantage ads we're deluged with this time of year make the plans sound so perfect.

nc-crn: yeah, that's always happened to my ladybugs but this year I'm making a concerted effort to have year round planting of plants to keep them around. It might take me another year or so of purchases, but we'll see. I'll let you know. You are one GW member whose words are highly respected by me -- there's other members, but you're one of the ones at the top. By the way, I may have actually turned the corner a bit on building my insectary. There's actually been many sightings of ladybugs this season and I didn't purchase them. I live in a suburban subdivision so i guess one of my neighbors could have released some. I just know that none of my neighbors NEARBY would have a reason to release some. Everybody around me has either lawns or rock and drought tolerant natives growing. Thanks. Kevin

The shepperd hook I have has a straight botton, i.e. needle sharp like, so it's actually very easy to insert the pots from the bottom up. You say yours has double prongs on the end side? How about drilling a hole large enough for the prongs to be able to fit? One word of caution regarding the metal pots idea: depending on where you live and how hot your climate is, you may wish not to do this. In my climate, metal pots left outside in the afternoon sun are a sure way to fry the plant's roots. Even plastic pots have similar problems in Summer. THANK YOU for all your nice comments on my photos. We had another unseasonably warm day today after the rain of yesterday and the plants are loving it and are being tricked into thinking this can go on forever. They are in for a shock when it starts acting like New England weather in October. As am I! I never have gotten used to the cold even though I have lived here all my adult life...(I was born in south Georgia and lived there as a child). Cindy, no Zeus doesn't mind the leash although he isn't used to being outside so everything spooks him....the falling autumn leaves or a car going down the road will send him into a panic. I am glad that the outside scares him, though. I have lost too many cats to the coyotes and fisher cats in the woods that surround my yard. Lily & Nemo are too old to change their ways, having been outside cats all their lives and everyday I worry they won't make it home after their excursions in the woods. Celeste

I did when I was a child. I would dread going to the dentist, and I'd actually throw up starting about a week before any dental appointment, I was so scared. Then when I was 18 and was sitting in the dentist's waiting room, shaking like a leaf, I asked myself what, exactly, am I afraid of? I had never been hurt by a dental procedure. Then I saw that my fear of the dentist was worse than the dentist visit itself. As soon as I realized that, I immediately stopped shaking, finished the appointment with no fear, and I've never been afraid of going to the dentist since. I even became a dental hygienist and worked in dental offices for years. Hope you get over your fear.

So many people don't post here anymore because of the bullying or rude, condescending remarks. Always by the same person(s). I know I only stop by occasionally. It's easy to say to just scroll on by those posts but that constant vitriol is so wearing. I don't watch the news much anymore because it's so tiring. I feel the same here at the KT.

Insurance is a business. 'Health care' is a business -- hospitals, providers, etc. -- all expect to make a profit. The US allows this to a greater extent than any other first world nation. That's not news. I am glad to see that Blumenthal et al are looking into the problem.

Personally, we spent tons more for supplemental medical insurance with original medicare than we are spending this year and last, after DH's former employer stopped contributing to Medicare costs and offered an advantage plan instead. I've been covered without any problems despite extremely expensive care for cancer. DH has never been denied coverage for any care. Now, we live near all sorts of medical facilities. IDK how coverage works in other areas.
