Handy pill accessory
I've been using those 7 day pill keepers for a few years. I started using them when a couple of times I could not remember taking that day's medication. I seem to be taking more medication than I used to and the pills now don't fit. Found on Amazon, a great solution, xl keepers, four 7 day keepers sold in a plastic case so I can arrange them a month at a time. Considering the alternative, I am happy to be older, and I like finding little accessories that help me age more easily.

Comments (27)Oops...I meant Vitaglo.com...and the size is #3. I've had cats from kittenhood to senior years. Some took to pilling much better than others. After being catless for 6 months, I recently fostered a poor cat from the ASPCA and had to give her thyroid meds twice a day. She would not let me pill her (she barely let me come near her). She fell for the pill pockets a couple times. I could actually hear her growl when she bit thru to the pill. Then she got wise and refused to eat the pockets. I had to give her back to the ASPCA where the pros could handle her. Then I read about meds that could be topically rubbed onto a cats ear. But I don't know if they can do that with Baytril. Also, A friend's cat just had surgery and she told me that her Vet gave the cat a long acting antibiotic injection. Comments (8)Well, I think you might find it interesting to browse through the online IKEA Kitchen catalog for drawer accessories. My brother has a double layer silverware drawer, and it is the only one I know of which really works like it should. He keeps his knives in the top part. It can slide to the back of the drawer to reveal the items in the bottom layer. My preference is to have the top layer of such a drawer as a small cutting board. Maybe even a glass one, but the wood looks better. No worry then about it getting hung up with some utinsel jamming things. For my cooking tools, I have them hanging on S-hooks (from IKEA) from a bar (looks like brushed stainless also from IKEA and available 24" to 48" long or wide). And, for things which do not hang, I have a heavy crock nearby for the spatulas and peelers and spreaders and slicers. I also have a narrow drawer for my cutlery, which is not really matched, because I would pick up a new knife when on sale, and then I also needed a spot to stash the sharpener. I am NOT a fan of electrical plug-ins sitting on the counter top. So no electric carving knife for me, no electric can opener. They clutter up the kitchen, and then the cords always wind up coated in grease and flour. I keep out the coffee pot (I brew it, not instant), and the electric hotpot (DH heats water for instant, and I use it for tea). The toaster is banished to a shelf with high clearance to keep from heating up the cabinet over the counter top. When we redo our kitchen, I'm going to hide it behind the higher eating bar, adjacent the range, to pull out to use it but slide it back out of the way later. I think a rollup appliance "garage" is a neat idea, but you must be able to dedicate the counter space permanently to something. All I can imagine leaving out on the counter, besides the beverage appliances, would be the toaster and the blender. And that would be about a full appliance garage. I'm still thinking about a KitchenAide 600 mixer with a bread dough blade.....yeah, right, and me being diabetic and not supposed to be eating breads! Comments (18)I've seen hanging pots, perhaps behind a lower cabinet door or hanging above an oven, and the concept is fine, but putting them into the corner like that makes me think that getting them out and putting them back could be a real pain. Now a sturdy hanging rod that slid out (similar to a closet rod that pulls down) could be cool, but those corner pans look like a pain to me. Definitely would not want pet fur or dust bunnies accumulating in the bottom of an open cabinet. Comments (3)The Presenza from Costco is the better choice because it is made of thicker steel. The thinner 20 ga. steel is too thin for sinks, and you will not be happy with it. A 16 ga. sink is even better. The Presenza sink is made in China as is the Glacier Bay sink. A better choice for you may be an asymmetrical sink with a small bowl paired with a larger. The small bowl is handy for food prep, and the disposer should be placed in this bowl to dispose of scraps. This one is from Franke, but almost all stainless manufacturers have one or two. Most sink accessories can be purchased separately. A cutting board designed to fit over the sink, is a common item at Amazon. A strainer can just sit in the bottom of the sink. It does not have to slide along the edge. But if you want one that hangs on the edge, try something like this, from Amazon: One accessory that is useful and usually must be obtained from the manufacturer is the grid, which prevents a lot of scratches on the sink bottom. last yearlast modified: last yearI think I understand what you’re talking about Lucille. I try to remember to take any medicines that are in my seven compartment box as I’m falling asleep, but there’s a counter incentive because some of the pills are large enough to choke a horse.
Here is my routine for my Sunday through Saturday seven day translucent pillbox :
– – After I take the day’s pills and I’m a slob, in that I take all of my pills. All at once, I don’t care what the directions say and that’s for my lab test. They’ll be consistent if I’m consistent all pills all at once.
– – After I take that day’s pills, I leave the flap open. That tells me that I took the things.
– – if I miss taking them for a day, I go and take the next day‘s pills in the next slot and I put a little piece of paper in the box with the pills I forgot to take the day before.
That’s it. I would go bonkers with a 30 day pillbox I’d knock it off the side table and onto the floor.
So my little system is crude and I probably am going to be under or over medicated with vitamin D, but I don’t think so ;)
I’ve been doing this a long time. What’s a while my doctor will mention that aren’t I supposed to take a certain pill at 6 AM in the morning? They must not be paying attention because I’m not usually awake at 6 AM in the morning unless it’s to use the toilet or get a drink of water. I’m definitely not gonna be taking pills at 6 o’clock in the morning. And the milk in my coffee two or three other pills I take all at the same time. If some interfere with some other pill, my lab tests will show that I don’t have enough or do have enough or whatever. As long as I’m consistent.
For all the news I inhale, I must not be paying close enough attention because there’s a lot of new terms. I can’t keep up with like binary non-binary; transcranio-vaginal; plumescent-hetero-Pleistocenic; Semi-quasinic-pre-gluteal….
PS CAVEAT— whenever I am entering a dash or two hyphens, HOUZZ crashes, and I lose what I was writing. It doesn’t matter if it was one word or two paragraphs. Could somebody at the who’s HOUZZ who department fix this? VERY ANNOYING..
