I'm back! Need to make some final decisions. Expert Advice Needed!
Comments (20)Jpmom, you home is gorgeous already! The 12" crown will look perfect with the already tall baseboards. Then add all the other woodwork in, the fireplace mantle, wainscoting, and pillars in the dining room. So pretty! My first reaction was to continue the white painted woodwork. It seems naturally connected to that bar wall from the the LR and DR with the baseboards and wainscoting. Oh and I also love that transom window above the other doorway too! My other thought was that I know from experience how the backsplash tile can completely change colors due to the lighting and what is directly next to it. I would want the two areas in the kitchen with the backsplash to look related. It may look completely different with one being next a window with white cabs and dark counters verses the other being in low natural light with black cabs and white Quartz. I'd definitely wait to decide on what to do with the bar area until the rest of the kitchen is painted white as Romy suggested. I do think it might look great either way, but I'm just one who needs to see it in real life before committing. I am sure either way it is gonna be stunning! ETA.... Could you possibly find a remnant of the Volga blue to fit the bar top if you went with white cabs on the bar? Or possibly just cut the granite and add a dark walnut type wood butcherblock section that reads dark above the wine fridge? Think romy's dark wood top next to the granite? Just a thought....:-)...See MoreI'm back! Need to make some final decisions. Expert Advice Needed!
Comments (8)All perimeter cabinets are simply white. My island will be stained oak. With the black top. However there will be an island table that is attached next to it that will have the white quartzite. I have pieces saved at the stone yard that are what I used in the kitchen so do not want to deviate. I originally wanted soapstone but not to be found here in my price range and when I found the quartzite, I could see my kitchen needed to be light countertops but I wanted the bulletproofness of the granite. Plus they didn't have enough quartzite for the whole kitchen. So I have a mix. Its all good. I would post photos but the computer isn't cooperating. Can you use the island top you are replacing for the wet bar? Or are you repurposing it elsewhere?...See MoreI have a problem. I can't make a decision.
Comments (33)They're Manchester Terriers. We lost our 13 year old Min Pin to cancer Oct. 8th, 2015. I started looking at dog pictures online and read a bunch of stuff that made me think that our very sweet Min Pin was a fluke, because many people seemed to find Min Pins were temperamental. Ours was calm and very loving, with a lot of personality and we all loved him. I think most Min Pin owners seem to love their dog a lot. Anyway I found out about Manchester Terriers, and thought that if it's hard to find a Min Pin with good temperament, maybe a Manchester would be a better bet. I read that Manchesters love their people, and are very smart and long lived. Manchesters are fairly rare though. I got acquainted with a Manchester breeder online and she connected me with someone who needed to find a home for their male, who was 2. So we were given this beautiful sweet dog a year ago. I was very anxious about it but we bonded. Then the same breeder found a female for us who was 1 1/2. She came from a show dog background but was just a dog among a whole lot of dogs and never even knew her name. She is also very sweet and cuddly. The dogs mated shortly after we got the female and our puppy was born Oct. 8th, the anniversary of our Min Pin's death. His name is Tchoupitoulas. We call him Tchoup. (pronounced chop). I thought we might breed Manchesters since they're rare and great dogs but we had our female spayed for several reasons. If you want to see some pretty Manchester pictures I like the site for Rustic Lane Manchester Terriers. I am not affiliated with them. I just like the pics, especially the action pics. They are beautiful runners. They look a little exotic to me, I think it's their eyes and planes of their faces. They sometimes tear around the house bouncing off furniture chasing each other. Our cat holds her own. Didn't mean to hijack the thread. I'd get the kitties, but you have to weigh the pros and cons ....See MoreHelp! I can’t make a decision- literally!
Comments (14)Ok, the one slab thing does look neat. But still, function. Do you need the additional few stools seating like that more, or would you benefit more from the storage of a buffet? If you don't need the seating so much, you could still do the one slab and put some custom cabinetry in on the dining room side. Make it more dining buffet looking rather than a kitchen cabinet. Maybe even something extra like glass doors like some old build ins have. The one slab would look like a stone top for the buffet then....See Morela_la Girl
