Klimt's Roses in an exhibit in NYC

last month

Because it's a fer piece up to the big city, I splurged and bought the book Klimt Landscapes that accompanies the current exhibit (same name) at the Neue Gallerie. The NY Times reported that the book has more landscapes than the exhibit (loans from Europe dematerialized). In the book there are more than landscapes. It's a great read and the man also loved painting flowers. His Roses in Orchard has the feel of a massive rose garden at its peak. (And after my own heart, he enjoyed adding black cats to his works.) (Black cats in gardens, my kind of place.)

not behind a paywall NYT review

Anyway, if you're in the neighborhood up there, it might be worth a visit. If you can't visit, borrow the book from Interlibrary Loan.
