Paint Home Decorating Design Dilemma

Need help choosing complimentary paint color!

Trying to choose a paint color for my living room and dining room that will flow with my kitchen color. My kitchen is Ecru which is warm but has a gold undertone. I'm trying to choose a complimentary color that won't make my kitchen seem "yellow". I would like to keep it neutral. Help!

We need to see the kitchen. Ecru could be a range of colors, and the color of the floor is relevant too. If your kitchen is open to a family room, will that room be painted the same color? If so, we need to see the furniture in that room for color coordination. Is there a BM or SW equivalent to the cabinet color? If you want to stay in the same color family you should be looking to go lighter or darker if you can't get an exact match. Which do you prefer? How do you feel about a touch of green? Green looks good with warm whites.

I am very confused without a picture. I am not sure where you painted Dromedary Camel, and is Biltmore Buff the trim or another room color? I am not familiar with that color and my neighbor still has my color decks:( Why not pick another color on the same color stick as Dromedary Camel for your dining room (seems like you want a lighter color than Dromedary camel). There is a color at the top of that stick called Autumn Blonde (?? unsure with out my sticks) and I think, another color called sundew. Personally, I would paint the dining room an olive green especially if you have a chair rail with decorative molding below. In our previous home, the builder painted all the trim in SW Crystal White. Its a soft white and goes well with everything, even Dromedary Camel. Right now I have super white with Dromedary Camel and it looks fine, but I would have preferred a softer white than the stark white. Going to ivory is adding too much yellow to the trim.

hermustangs, if you'll read the "new to GW" thread below on this page (or if it's left this page by the time you read this, search for it) you'll find explicit instructions on how to post photos; very easy to do. I think you'll get many more responses if you include photos. I'm not good enough with colors personally to try to answer your questions without seeing the rooms. Good luck!

I don’t think that mosaic is meant for floor and IMO too many grout lines too and I have to say I never like shower niches and for sure not in an accent tile since I have no idea why anyone wants to accent shampoo bottles. Are you using glass walls in the new shower? I do like large forat tile the same on bathroom floors and shower walls.. What is your new vanity like ? A bit more info from you will get you more help. I would love to see a to scale floor plan too.

“Ecru” is too general a color description, as it can come in slightly different variations. Do you know the brand? Can you provide a picture of kitchen and show relationship with the other space? It’s also hard to recommend a specific color for many reasons: did you want lighter or darker, needing to work with flooring and furniture, but especially how natural light will influence its shade. To tone down the gold, stay away from a yellow undertone and choose an undertone that works with the above elements and most importantly, test a few.
