Comments (20)Have to agree that wall mounting the tv is probably your best bet. Do you have plaster walls? I can't tell how old the house is from your pictures. Fishing cables through plaster walls can be difficult. However, there are cord covers that you can use to cover the cables on the wall. They can be painted to match the wall color. And if you Google a bit, there are a lot of creative ideas on how to hide all the tv cables out there. I'd do a bit of research first, to get the wall mount that will work best for you, and to figure out the easiest way to hide all the cables. If you don't want a rug, and I don't blame you, those floors are sure pretty, think about doing something else to help "furnish" the room. I could see a large plant on the wall with the tv, or a bookcase for display. I think if you can find something else for that wall, in addition to the tv, it will make the room seem more fully furnished....See MoreHelp with living room furniture layout and decor, please!
Comments (4)Well...at 17'X 14' you don't have much room for built-in like this on a side wall. They will take approximately 2' in depth, plus another 6" minimum for a window jamb. It doesn't look like your floor plan incorporates a 2'-6" jamb on either wall, so some change will be needed to the builder's plan to make this possible. Be sure to check and verify your furniture layout will fit the available space after the built-in. Good luck!...See Morejust moved in. need help decorating living room/ dining room & master

Comments (13)Perhaps float a sofa where they have the love with its back to the stairwell wall and a walkway behind it. Then use 4 swivel chairs; two facing or flanking the fireplace and two with backs to the 4-window end of the room. Put TV opposite the fireplace. Add a game table in one window corner, and if there's room, a pair of chairs or chaises in the other window corner. Here's a room with 4 swivels; they make for a nice way to allow you to enjoy all the focal points....See MoreNew-home-owner
