White Kitchens & Two Tone Kitchens?
Comments (32)I think 2 toned kitchens are great. I have one myself (main L is a sage green with a coffee glaze and the cook top area is an off white with Coffee Glaze). If you are planning on doing the two colors on the walls/bases on the same run, the only thing I can caution you against is if you have any TALL cabinets (a refrigerator surround cabinet, a tall oven, pantry cabinet, etc), you now have an issue where the tall cabinet could go either way. If you choose to do it the color of the bases, what color do you do the crown as the tall cabinet is now up against different colored wall cabinets? If you choose to do the tall cabinet the color of the wall cabinets, now you will have the lower part of the tall cabinet next to the different colored base cabinets and will also need to make the toe kick areas different colors. In short, whenever there is a tall cabinet in the layout that is going to be up against base/wall cabinets, I try to encourage our customers to choose one or the other for the whole kitchen as I feel the tall cabinet ruins the 'color division' a little bit. Again, this is all personal preference, but thought I would just chime in with some feedback. As someone mentioned, there are tons of photos to look at here on Houzz and on the web, so I bet you will make the decision that is right for you! Good luck on your project! Cheers!...See MoreTwo tone kitchens -

Comments (17)Sounds great. I think you should start by putting together some photos of what you like. Pay attention to the flooring and counter choices in kitchen photos that appeal to you. If you are changing everything then you want to be sure it all works together. Have you got a preference for the flooring? It is the thing that is likely to be there the longest. Hardwood? Tile? Vinyl Plank? Once you've sorted the flooring it will be easier to choose the colour for your base cabinets as they are closest together. Then choose your counters. When you get new counters, don't get an integrated backsplash piece. Just get them perfectly flat and your new backsplash will butt up against the counter. The last thing to choose is backsplash tile. I think you'll want to address your lighting as well. It looks like you don't have much light in there especially around the sink and work areas. Choose a few greys that you like and take them with you on paint chips when you go shopping for your flooring choice. You'll want to see that the paint colours that appeal to you don't fight with your flooring colours....See MoreHow do I do a two toned kitchen with this plan?
Comments (13)once the soffit is gone and walls are lightened up you can use med to darker oak with some whites or light colors ...light counters too? unless you get quartersawn oak or doug fir the oak can look busy with the grain and so on ...... unless you do a java or cafe stain and then the rest of everything quite light/white ? do you have the actual door sample WITH the actual stain on oak? I like oak but steer clear of certain shades....its good for its durability/ budget friendly characteristics.....so java oak recessed flat panel on the lowers under the counters......white or a very light sage green on the stacks and uppers..put some glass doors in flanking the microwave..with great tile you'll like that feature. then the open shelves in a more light maple to contrast w darker oak. note the dark oak island /dark perimeter but the next photo shows that lighter green or greige as better option on walls again w darker under counter at island. counters are light. theres some floating shelves in a shade or two lighter...See MoreRelated Professionals
