Anyone know who makes Pottery Barn vanities?
Comments (3)There are vanities very similar to the Pottery Barn Newport available on Amazon with great customer reviews. Take a look at a collection of vanities with Pottery Barn style, including "The Beverly" which looks like an exact replica of the PB Newport here: http://www.squidoo.com/pottery-barn-style-bathroom-vanity Here is a link that might be useful: Pottery Barn Style Vanities...See MoreNewbie looking for Vanity Top Ideas
Comments (6)Yes, I checked into remnants with no luck...it is a 73" top, so I guess that probably limits the remnants a little. That too, we keep calling and checking on, but finally made the decision to try to stick to the cheapest thing and get what we really want at a later date...which would include a real marble top with undermount bowls and tile up the wall behind the mirrors in lieu of a backsplash. We are building a new home so unfortunately some things just have to end at the end of the budget and we can only dream of doing them later :). The cultured marble comes out to $40/sf but that includes the sinks so really without (2) sinks at probably $60/each it comes out to be about $34 each and there still, without a charge for a sink cut out which is pretty standard... The whole cultured marble top is around $450 so it is really affordable. I am just debating if I should play it safe and go with a plain white for a simple sharp contrast to the espresso vanity or if I should try playing with the matte finish on the grey swirl to add some pattern. I love the look of the real marble and yet don't want to take the look of the whole bath down with the top. I would still be doing a solid white bowl (2 tone molded cultured marble top) for that price, so it might look a little richer having the bowl be solid and just the top part with the pattern. Do you think I should try it or play it safe? I will take a pic of the sample tonight and try to post to see if you have any input for me. Thanks so much!...See MoreWho is the manufacturer of your white dinnerware?
Comments (23)Bone china is the strongest and lightest. It is considered a type of porcelain, which is next down. Ceramic and stoneware are the least sturdy, but that depends on the particular manufacturer, as they vary a great deal. I think the main negative is that they tend to be heavy, plus they chip, especially when you grab a handfull of dishes at a time from the dishwasher. I have used Villeroy and Boch bone china for 20+ years and it is truly very strong. I had a number of pieces fall on my tile floor of my old home and just bounce! I looked for over a year before I found this pattern discontinued at a V&B outlet store where I was able to get it for about $22 a place setting. Are there any V&B, Mikasa or other outlet stores nearby? Haunt their clearance areas regularly and get on their mailing list (which usually includes a % off coupon) for sale dates. That said since you don't want to spend much right now, you should keep a keen eye on ads near your home. Within the last two weeks, I saw china sets of 8 at Macy's and Penney's. They both originally listed for about $100, but after the sale and assorted coupons were applied, they came down to about $40. (I was actually looking to get a set for my son who just recently moved into a new apt) Other than the serving pieces that come with your set, do not bother with trying to match everything. I got everything available in my bone china set, and I rarely use it together anymore. With the whole table set exactly the same, it actually can look quite boring. White china looks gorgeous with serving pieces in accent colors or designs. You can get many of these at great prices in department store clearance rooms, Home Goods, or TJ Maxx....See MoreNeed 55" Double Vanity in Design of Restoration Hardware Hudson Vanity
Comments (15)Hi Patty, thanks for your comment! After much research, I think I’m going to buy a wooden vanity with a stone top. I found a picture of the floor tile in a bathroom with a wood vanity and I like it, so now I’m going to try to source something similar. Posting a pic of the bathroom and of a vanity I found that I may buy but worried the walnut (and possible design) won’t look right against the tile. Would love your thoughts as well as anyone else’s! Thanks!...See Morecyn427 (z. 7, N. VA)
