That's a nice vanity!!! Do you have a local store where you can check out the quality? You may also check out a few local kitchen & bath shops. We ordered our furniture style vanities from Shiloh. The quality is very good with full extension drawers soft close drawers. Ours are 54" and were quite a bit less expensive than the pottery barn one.

The Pottery Barn system (work table top, lateral file cabinet, 2 3-drawer file cabinets) I need would cost $1500 - there's gotta be a way to either get it cheaper or get better quality for that kinda money! ******* Looking for higher quality/custom built for less money? That's a bit like looking for the Mercedes S-Class at the Toyota Camry price. Its just not going to happen. A recurring theme here on this forum is "More for Less" and I can tell you that 99.99 % of the time thats an impossibility. Here we are looking at a mass-produced (as in thousands of units) combination done by a mass marketer, made in China (where the hourly rate is .50 per hour) made of composite woods and fibers. Realistically the price is beat down as far as you are ever going to get it. This is what the American consumer has been demanding and Pottery Barn has delivered it to you. Custom built for that kind of money? Raw material alone would almost come to $ 1,500 in solid hardwoods that are stain grade, finishing material, hardware for slides, etc. A well-made custom-built unit is going to be closer to $ 5,000, regardless of what part of the country you are in. We have this bed and the leather headboard (with the drawers rather than the baskets) that we bought through Craigslist about 6 weeks ago. I love it. We really needed the storage (just downsized to a home half the size of our old one) and the drawers are huge (we have a king). I don't find it any more difficult to make the bed than we did with our old bed. I don't have pics as our bedroom is still a work in progress. We knew we wanted this bed and were thrilled when one popped up on CL right before we moved.

I purchased this Restoration Hardware 36" Hutton vanity and had it in a guest bathroom that was used mostly as a powder room on a fairly regular basis. The vanity was beautiful and the marble top was thick and gorgeous and honed instead of the typical polished. Unfortunately within a few months the doors warped even though we never showered in the room and maybe bathed in the tub once a week at most. Restoration Hardware was good about sending repair people and replacement doors, but even the replacement doors were warped. If I set the doors on a flat surface, they wouldn't lay flat. The repair people they sent (local companies) were frustratingly incompetent. The frame was constructed nicely but the doors were a big problem. For another bathroom we purchased this Water Creation Madison 60" vanity but we only used it for a few months before we sold the house. It seemed only slight less well constructed and was significantly less expensive than the 72" RH version. We could only fit a 60" so the RH option was out anyway. The marble was a nice solid piece and equally thick, but it was polished which I liked less. Overall I felt like the Restoration Hardware vanity was only slightly better quality than the Water Creation vanity. When I've looked at Pottery Barn vanities in the stores, I have been less impressed with their marble tops which seemed to be thin. Hope that helps some.
