Comments (17)What a gorgeous Easter bonnet! When you started thinking of making features on her and creating a body, I thought, I am not artistic enough to make a good looking face on anything. lol! So I wouldn't try it. But you just might have the talent for it. If I attempted it, she would look like Alice the Goon from the old Popeye cartoons. lol! So what I'd do is pretend the vase is like a stand to show off the hat. Kind of like the mannequin heads in stores that have no features. Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket! he-he It just depends upon how artistic you are. If the face would look amateurish, it would detract from the prettiness of the hat. I think it is beautiful just the way it is! Now I will look at the glass light fixture shades a little differently! Thanks for the wonderful inspiration!...See MoreVintage Hats
Comments (5)I have a large collection of old hats, some from 3 of my grandmothers, in fact. They are in storage right now, but for years I had them hanging around my bedroom - made a board with pegs every foot or so around the entire room and hung the hats, as well as old gloves, purses, and other old items on the pegs. It was cool, but I got tired of dusting after several years! That was long enough ago I didn't have a digital camera and my scanner isn't working, so no pics! Comments (14)OH, I used to LOVE hats! DH came across an old movie on TV last night, "The Man Who Came to Dinner". Up pops Ann Sheridan in a hat -- with a veil that TIED UNDER THE CHIN. I remember my mother and her friends wearing cocktail hats with veils! One of her hats that I loved was ocelot fur -- it was shaped a bit like the GI overseas caps. I picture her wearing that hat, with its matching square muff, and a suit jacket that had a peplum. (Hah! Bet I've completely lost some of you by now! LOL) My DH's former employer frowned on anything but a *white* dress shirt when he was first employed. Previously, employees had to wear dress hats (summer and winter), as well as suits with white shirts and ties -- even if they were not in contact with the public. No man wore anything but a long-sleeved white shirt and a sober tie. Anybody interested in a dresser drawer full of ladies GLOVES and HANDKERCHIEFS? Oooh, how about an alligator purse?...See MoreI miss hats
Comments (43)I wear baseball caps every day when the sun is out, because I don't like sunglasses. I used to have to wear one to church and am glad I never have since. Messes my hair and is way too dressy for the look I wear. As for breast feeding. I did it in the 60's when absolutely no one was. No La Leche or any encouragement of any kind by doctors. I was on my own. My daughter and I were at the Jersey Shore yesterday and I pointed out that's where I nursed her under the boardwalk when she was four months old but she was covered by a towel. The Walmart shot was over the top but didn't surprise me....See MoreKswl
