A witch's hat roof is a variation of a cone roof. Shaped just like its name, it has a skinny peaked top and flares at the bottom.
Look for the turret with the witch's hat roof to the left of the entry and balcony. Placing shingles on a roof like this is very labor intensive. Many custom cuts are required if the shingles are to lay flat.
A stacked stone turret, complete with a witch's hat roof and a weathervane, is the distinctive entry to this home. A metal cap or cupola is required on this type of roof.
