Decorating With Hats and Hatboxes
I'm always looking for inexpensive ways to decorate and add interest to the rooms in my home. One of the more fun ways is with the use of hats and hat boxes. Hats play well in any decor because they come in so many different styles and colors. Hat boxes are also a great choice because in addition to looking great, they offer additional storage. Here are just a few of the ways you could use hats and hatboxes to add interest and whimsy to your decor...
Hats and hat boxes always look great in bedrooms. Hat boxes, both vintage and new, are fun to collect and offer great storage. You can stack them on the floor beside a chest....
Or, stack them high upon a chair.
When you're out antiquing or thrifting, keep your eye out for vintage or reproduction hat stands.
If you come across a really pretty hat box, consider making it a focal point by placing it on the wall inside an old frame.

Be creative with how you use and display your hat boxes. They could even be used as part of the centerpiece in a table setting.
The entry has always been a natural place to display hats since you can grab one as you're headed out the door. Hang them around a mirror and the look is totally charming.
One glance into this entry and we know someone with a love for gardening and nature lives here. The sunhat hanging near the door is not only convenient for the gardener, it looks wonderful against the beautiful beadboard wainscoting. Love the bird's nest in the window!
Simple and beautiful...wouldn't be the same without the hat, would it?
The white hat can only mean one thing...this is where the "good guy" lives.
Decorating children's rooms can always be a bit of a challenge because they outgrow them so quickly. The binoculars and pith hat are an inexpensive and magical way to complete the safari theme shown here.
Have a budding cowboy in your home? Add a couple of hooks to the wall so he can hang his hat and lasso up at the end of long day of herding cattle.
Everyone knows hats are mandatory when playing dress-up! They look adorable hanging on display when not in use.
Got a fisherman in the family? Create a whimsical wall display with lake views, a lucky fishing hat and some fun art of the "one that got away."
Do you have one of those brown wicker/bamboo hat racks that were so popular in years past? Consider giving it a coat of bright paint for a whole new look.
There's just something about a straw hat that says good times are only a short beach walk ahead. Hang them wherever you need a little reminder to relax and have some fun.
