I collect vintage hats
Comments (17)I have about 40 or so vintage hats, I don't get to wear them much, Easter and such. Recently I lent them to lady who threw a birthday party for a friend, it was a tea party and she supplied the hats and gloves, they had a blast. Also my DH and I went to The Grand Hotel murder mystery weekend one year. Everyone dresses in period clothes. I had plenty hats, jelwery, furs and bags. It was a dream as was the rest of Mackinac Island. Vintage hats and furs are getting hard to find, I used to get them really cheap, now I hardly ever see anything pre 80's....See MoreI miss my husband so much,i don't know what I am supose to donow
Comments (16)Kay, how are you? I haven't been around for a while, I had to take a break and get myself together. To everyone I want to tell you that I am so sorry for your loss and sadness, it is the worst pain anyone can have BUT it does get better, I promise. My heart and soul mate died 14 months ago and I wanted to die with him, I was in so much pain and so scared of what was going to happen to me without him; life must go on. I was told that it doesn't get better but it gets different and they were right. I still weep and some days are bad but I have more good days as time goes on. Life won't seem so alien after a while, I just felt like I didn't belong here any more, not in my home, my job or this world but I did finally settle with my feet back on the ground. It's not easy but you have to push youself to live and it eventually gets easier. Please take care of yourselves, get help if you need it and work hard at being strong, we will never forget and we will always love them and happier days are ahead. God Bless all, Mav....See MoreI sure miss my fresh veggies....but certainly dont miss the bugs

I know he does so much already. Just a wishing...See MoreI wanted to cut back my spires this year but I think I missed the boat
Comments (3)I'm not sure there is a boat that can be missed when considering pruning a spiraea. 😊 This is a plant that can tolerate pruning - even rather severe pruning - at pretty much any time of year you like. As ken would say, this is a shrub that can be run over by a truck and still respond positively!! Ideal times are now (or even earlier in the season), after flowering or in late summer/early fall. And many sources recommend pruning as often as necessary to keep plants compact, remove any twiggy or dead growth and increase interior airflow. I grew a Magic Carpet spiraea (S. japonica) for many years that I used to shear back whenever it set flower buds, as I detested the Pepto Bismol pink flowers but loved the colored foliage!! No ill effect to the plant at all. In fact, it seemed to grow even more vigorously. The japonicas and the closely related xbumaldas (Goldflame, Goldmound, Magic Carpet, etc) flower on new growth, so pruning now - before much new growth has developed - is nearly perfect timing....See MoreScotty B
