Exterior Paint colors that coordinate with orange brick
Comments (15)The way to tone down a color you hate is to go low contrast. In other words, chose a tone, whatever that tone is, that is similar in strength to the roof color. Not the same color, but not drastically darker or lighter. Also, close in the color wheel range also tones it down, unless you hate the close colors. But a greyish blue or bluish grey does go well with orange without drawing attention to its orangeness as long as it is the same level of light or darkness. (Sorry, I'm using layman's terms, I am no color theorist). At least that was my experience toning down trim in my bedroom that was orangey. Painting the garage in a similar tone to the roof will also tone it down because then the roof won't be contrasting with the bright white garage door. It could be a light brown or cream or whatever, as long as it is not super bright or super dark. Also, super bright or dark would call attention to the garage door, which I assume you will not want to do....See MoreExterior paint for red orange and brown brick house?
Comments (8)I love the orange of your inspiration photo. I think a light tan that goes with the roof would be pleasant. Saybrook Sage is another good choice. Here are two light tans I think would be good. Both can be used with a creamy white, like Timid White....See Morewhat exterior paint colors would make pink brick seem less pink? Help!
Comments (7)As noted earlier, the green just draws more attention. I would: 1) Remove the shutters from the double windows. 2) Paint all the trim and garage doors a nice medium taupe. Don't paint the garage doors a different color as it draws more attention to them. 3) Paint the shutters, maybe a darker tone of the trim. 4) Paint the front door. A black door with taupe trim/shutters would be very striking. If you're interested in seeing some virtual makeovers of your home, check out my website, Creative Visual Concepts. Comments (7)@amanda, what I don't like about the color now is that it is brown...I dislike all shades of brown. @chloebud yes, I am looking for options that go with our roof/brick and windows which is called "santone" from Andersen. ..it's like a beige colour. The gray/green is an interesting option for sure. @Patricia Colwell oh yes of course, not considering painting brick at all...when I said we are painting it all, I just meant the already currently painted areas. Are there any warm grays that would go with the brick/roof etc?...See MoreKelly Cincotta
