I'll Show You Mine, If You'll Show Me Yours, Monday December 3
Comments (17)Sorry, I don't know what that shrub is. I pass it on the way to and from work and had to have a picture of it. Most of the leaves are gone now. Linda...See MoreI'll Show You Mine, If You'll Show Me Yours, Monday Mar 9
Comments (20)Thanks for finding the picture, Vicki. Even though he was quite ill at the time, dad signed the first 300 prints of this painting. And that is exactly the way he did it. Ian painted over that plane a number of times before he got it right and Dad approved. The lettering on the plane, etc. are correct to the last detail. However, there was no car or woman. It's supposed to be Mom waving him goodbye as he flew off to war - very romanticized, hence the title of the piece - but that wasn't the way it was....See MoreTotal gut and demo starts Monday...what do you do for water?
Comments (28)We're doing...okay. :) The water heater should get here Thursday or Friday, and DH will get the laundry sink hooked up hot and cold. Once that happens life will get much, much easier. I've also ordered a 2nd portable induction hob which is also on the way. For plumbing, for now, I'm using the garden sprayer on our front porch for quick rinsing (the "don't let stuff dry and get crusty before I actually wash it" rinsing) and for actual dishwashing, we're using the bathtub in the main bathroom on the second floor. Hauling a big plastic tub with all the dishes up and down is...sub-optimal. (I'm snorting). As I sit and type my back is on freakin' FIRE. I wish, wish, wish we could do pizza or subs or whatever...but half our house is basically wheat, corn, and soy free...and I'm on a 3-mth protocol that doesn't allow for a bunch of other stuff that makes it extremely difficult to find anything "legal" that's not from scratch. It sucks under normal conditions. With the demo in full swing, it's making me tear my hair out. I'm hoping hoping hoping that we'll gain efficiencies as we go along and figure more stuff out. For example, I was prepping some ribs today for smoking (had to work from home with a sick kid) and realized I had a box of food prep gloves from a previous life that would be MUCH easier than washing my hands every 5 minutes while working with raw pork. AH HA! So the good news, by the end of this coming weekend, we should be as set up as we can get for the next two months. The bad news is that unless our reno is the extreme outlier that gets done earlier than scheduled (I'm snorting again) we're looking at 7 more weeks MINIMUM until our new kitchen is ready for prime-time. I keep thinking about how amazingly awesome it really will be, and how easy everything will seem with this behind us. It's just about time to pick some slabs and tile...2nd most fun thing ever after appliance shopping. :)...See MoreWhat are you doing Monday 4824
Comments (25)Not being in the totality path here in Milwaukee, I didn’t think anything would happen. However, that morning I hit on a link showing all areas that be affected and MKE was in the 90% area. I had a two o’clock massage appointment, right at the peak time. So I called my massage therapist and asked if we could move my appointment time a bit so I could view the eclipse. That was fine with her. So my DH quickly made a box for me. I went to my appointment, arriving 15 minutes early so we could watch together. When she saw my box she said, “oh maybe you’d like to use my glasses.” OMG!! The eclipse blew me away! To see a completely dark sky through the glasses with a bright Amber colored sun and the black encroaching moon so perfectly clear, was just amazing to me. A neighbor of mine who’s quite the world traveler plans to go to the 2027 eclipse in Egypt. I just may join her. There is one coming through MKE being in the full totality, but that’s in…..wait for it…..2099! I will be long gone! Utog, your photos of the shadows are really cool! Ann, your garden is getting greener and greener! I have a few pips but it’s too early here with our last frost date being May 11-20. I remember when it was mid April. I put some dirt on those to protect them. Hopefully we won’t get any late frost. 🤞🏽 debra...See Moreilovetogrow z9 Jax Florida
