People in Glass Houses: The Legacy of Joseph Eichler
Lucas Valley Community Center, San Rafael, California
This film, dedicated to the San Francisco Bay Area and the tight-knit communities created by famed developer Joseph Eichler, will kick off the 50th anniversary speaker series of the Lucas Valley Homeowners Association. Produced by Eichler specialist Monique Lombardelli, the 45-minute film captures the stories of those bonded by their love for Eichler homes and celebrates the architect's enduring legacy. A Q&A follows the screening.

Long Island City, New York
Made up of plastic chain-link partitions and enclosures, "Curtain's" white structure invites you to explore the modernist understanding of “curtain walls” as fixed boundaries. Conceived by architects Jerome Haferd and K Brandt Knapp, the sculpture is the winning submission from Folly, a competition organized by The Architectural League.

Old Galata Bridge, Istanbul
Head over to Istanbul to see what's trending in fashion, design and technology from Mediterranean creative professionals. The week is filled with new designs and exhibits, displayed on the Old Galata Bridge — the ultimate venue connecting both coasts of the Golden Horn.

Glass House, New Canaan, Connecticut
The iconic Glass House will display fresh flower arrangements for the first time since Philip Johnson and partner David Whitney passed away in 2005. Local designer Dana Worlock reinterpreted Whitney's original plant selection based on archival photographs.
The fresh flowers will be on display to bring new life to the interiors and pay tribute to Whitney's own green thumb. Whitney cultivated a wide range of seasonal plants throughout the site's 49 acres of lawns, meadows, woods, wetlands and gardens.
Hours: Thursday–Monday, 9:30 a.m–5:30 p.m.
Cost: Tickets start at $30.

People from all over the world will gather in London for a nine-day citywide celebration of all things art, design and architecture. The Festival's hub is the V&A Museum, which will feature a giant latticework spiral made of red oak by Amanda Levete Architects that spans the height of the museum doors.

Tent London
Super Brands London, Old Truman Brewery, London
Tent London is one of the largest design trade shows that takes place during the London Design Festival. Red Dot award winners Kam Kam from South Korea make their debut with their playful children's furniture collection inspired by traditional Korean forms (photo).
Hours: Thursday, 10 a.m.–7 p.m.; Friday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–8 p.m.; Sunday, 11 a.m.–6 p.m.
Also, the luxury trade show Decorex takes place September 23–26 at London's Royal Hospital Chelsea. Don't miss the show entrance space, designed by British avant-garde designer Vivienne Westwood.

This year's designers include Molly Luetkemeyer, Erinn Valencich, Brian Patrick Flynn, Christian May, Azadeh Shladovsky, Christopher Kennedy, Danielle Cornwell and the ladies behind the outdoor living retail store Potted.

Design enthusiasts and fashionistas can shop handmade pieces, little ones can build Legos with Arkki, and curious folks can peek inside the creative studios of local design companies. Make sure to attend PechaKucha Night on September 9, where design speakers will share in a unique 20x20 format: 20 pictures and 20 seconds for each slide.

Arbel also designed the central bar space out of packaging boxes from new desk lamps.
Cost: $12 adults; $10 seniors, students; free for 12 and younger
