I've narrowed vent hoods down to two...
Comments (12)Thanks for asking. I went with the Zephyr Roma, not only because I preferred the look of it but also because the flue cover that comes standard is high enough to reach my ceiling. I would have had to order a flue extension if I went with the Kobe. The Zephyr was $777 vs. $1000+ for the Kobe w/extension. The only hitch now is that it is backordered. Should be here the last week of April, and we are moving in May 6th....See MoreHelp me choose my granite, narrowed down to two (pics included)
Comments (34)patty Congrats on your remodel I guess I would ask what other elements are in the room? what color appliances, hardware, stools, furnishings, natural light, window treatments, rugs, wall color, lighting etc I can't see the flooring - posting a pic may help Picking a counter is very individual & we all "see" differently You noted a natural tumbled backsplash as likely - I read the TB - as warming up your palette - your cabs are considered cool - so I my initial reaction is I prefer that - I like warm/cool elements but again depends on the rest of the palette & your personal taste The NC reads cool to me - If that is used the rest of the elements should be cool - fabrics, hardware, wall color etc - or you will have colors that are fighting each other - a honed crema marfil backsplash wouldn't work, but a carrara would - tan/beige paints wouldn't work, but blues/greys would Another twist you could consider is having each sample honed & see if that helps to make a decision - that will give you 4 options and also sounds like you have some room to negotiate with the stone yard esp on the TB they want to move - offer 20% discounted pricing on that one if that is the one you would like, even if not, that may help to drive the decision Good luck...See MoreNarrowed it down...just don't like mosaic behind range
Comments (19)I did something very similar to yours, which I love. If you don't like the rhomboid shape, it is probably not going to appeal to you, but I will describe it. Sorry, no working digital camera at the moment. My insert behind the cooktop is all glass rhomboids (same Tantrum from Sonoma). I used the same burgundy and khaki colors that you selected, and I also used green. Those three colors are randomly arranged. The field tile is a yellowish limestone 3X6, which provides a nice contrast to the sparkly niche. As you have done with the small decorative squares in your field tile, I used the 1X1 tantrum glass squares in the same khaki, green and burgundy colors, to spread the color and sparkle around the room. I remember that the tantrum glass tiles also came in larger squares (2X2). Maybe you could use those in burgundy in some kind of simple pattern behind the cooktop. Of the three class colors you've chosen, the burgundy stands out. I love the burgundy liner and how it looks with your field tiles. Definitely keep some color or sparkle there for a bit of contrast. Good luck. Tile options are endless, making it tough to decide....See MoreI've narrowed it down to two backsplash options (I think)
Comments (28)Carolae, thanks for the recommendation of Nemo Tile. I spent time looking at their glass tile and I've ordered three samples. Crossing my fingers. Wolfgang80, I ordered a few Heath samples when I first started looking for tile. None of my samples worked especially well with our counters. I love their tile though. I feel like Tabarka is a little rustic for my other kitchen elements. Nicole R and Shannon, you've confirmed one of my concerns. I was afraid that the glass pencil mosaic might feel dated. I do like the softness of glass though, so I'm looking at some larger format glass options. PamA and Barnkatz, I've gotten several samples from TileBar, but will go back and take another look. I already have a sample of Diesel Camp White Canvas that Pam suggested and it's a pretty good option. The color works with the marble and it has a very subtle texture up close. I'll take a picture of it with the counters later. I'll go back and look at TileBar again because I like most suggestions that both of you made. AboutToGetDusty, the Sonoma glass tiles are beautiful. When I initially looked at Sonoma I was only looking at their ceramic tile, none of which grabbed me. I really like some of the glass colors. Thanks for all the help so far!!! I'm off to research some of my now options!...See Morewdccruise
