Home office in 1960s Canadian home

Hi there,

We just bought a 1960s home and we are so torn about what to do with this home office space regarding the panel. We appreciate the immediate reaction you may have which is to remove the panel :-) We're looking to work with what we have and bring out the best in it. We're aiming for cosy, warm, family living in our small city, and like transitional style. We want to keep the desk that the previous owners left. We'd love a colourful couch and desk chair. We already removed the carpet and tiles so what you see needs flooring (including the mudroom, hall, bathroom). We removed the ceiling tiles. I've included a realtor photo (that's the one that's bright and has carpet/furniture). In reality the space is dark and so more lighting will be installed in ceiling.

· What are your thoughts about the panel?

· If we keep the panel (all? accent wall? weinscotting?), what could the floor material/colour be on this entire level? From this level, hardwood stairs go up to kitchen/living room, and hardwood stairs go down to family room.

Looking forward to initial thoughts. Thanks!
