Interiors passion & Finishes
Hello people. I left academia eight months ago and established my Interior design business six months ago. This is my first job since I started my business. I was contacted by a medical hospital to redesign the reception of the clinic. I'm Scared cos this is my first client since I started. Please, what do I need to do? This is a huge clinic. I will be on site for consultation next week.

Interiors - start by programming - defining the scope and goals. Why do they want to redesign - what do they want to accomplish - if you can accurately define the problem and goals you are half way there. You are providing a service ask them specifically what they want from you. It is not magic but a logical progression of steps. Communicate.

So my pantry is in the front hall - should I calculate that as part of the kitchen and calculate it as part of the entry? Of course not just like I would not count the stairs and the space under the stairs. My general rule is the square footage per typical floor height for cost. So if a space is 16 ft tall, I'm going to count that as two floors but if I was calculating for exiting requirements or flooring I would only count the floor area that people can occupy. HVAC needs volume/glazing area which another concern to take into account.
