Comments (17)Rabbits! They ate my newly planted eggplant and I think they ate a tomato plant. Although that would be odd, they usually don't bother the tomatoes. I'm not sure how they're getting in anymore since I reinforced the fence this spring. I've filled in the holes under the fence when I've seen them, but they would have had to have gotten in last night since I only planted the eggplant yesterday....See MoreApropos of nothing :-)
Comments (16)Ima or Denise. Personally I forget to sign my name and it isnt anything personal. Well if being lazy is personal then maybe so LOL. I also don't have time to respond to everyone nor would everyone want to hear what I have to say for that matter but I know what you mean and am sure I too have taken over a few posts. Some forums are HORRIBLE about that. I use to go to one forum that the same two individuals would always be the first to answer and then the conversation became a discussion with THEM and my question went out the window. There are also a few who are darn right mean. I hate to say it but the more organic and earthy ones are so opinionated they get really UGLY because they all think THEY are RIGHT and I just sign out. This forum and garden junk seem to be the friendliest in my opinion. Regarding your not getting a response. I posted on the gallery side of Trash to Treasures and i think it has been there several months with no response. Also I finally responded to some poor sole on Farm and Garden about his duck because no one had answered him,,,,it was from JULY!!!!!! The other thing is that our minds wander,,,, some more than others and I feel that often you will see some of that personality in a post. Like right now I am rambling and off topic and if we were here in person i would ramble and get off topic too!Wait, is that a heron outside????LOL What I really hate is when someone answers with,,, i don't have an answer but I'm sure someone else can help you. Well, why did you write?HMMMMMM I Love everyones garden names and imagine what that person must be like and why they chose that name.Afterall,we don't get to choose our birth name but in this forum we get to choose our own name. How cool is that?????? But, to those enquiring minds who want to know ,sign me Tanya...See MoreWhy I shop at Walmart (it has nothing to do with greed)
Comments (59)I know. I just didn't want anyone to get the impression that WM didn't contribute to mandated payroll taxes. Now, the senior employees who are already on SS & Medicare are usually parttime employees who do not qualify for the WM medical plan because of that. But, in all honesty, I don't know how many of them really want to work full time anyway as the usual jobs available are standing on your feet all day and much better suited to PT or younger employees. (Don't get all het up folks. I'm not saying all seniors lack the stamina, just that most probably would not want to do that.) Most employers medical policies stipulate that only full time employees qualify for coverage. Now, having said that. Younger employees who are restricted to PT and not allowed coverage on the company plan would have to provide their own insurance or use the public health facilities which are covered by medicaid. Most of those facilities require a payment of some amount based on ability to pay but I'm sure if you're homeless and have no income you would not be denied services. At least I would hope that this is true....See MoreNothing is so Beautiful as Spring . . .
Comments (30)Well, when I was on holiday, the temps here in TX were H-O-T (as in close to 100), but they have calmed down this week, with there even being a bit of rain and temps in the high 60's. This is great stuff, but I fear won't last long. Summer in Texas can be stinkin' hot sometimes (like last year). Vee - a while back, you asked about whether this was a strange tornado season. I haven't heard this from the researchers and faculty with whom I work, as the typical tornado season is from about Feb - May and we are in Tornado Alley. (Pretty much down the middle of the US, sort of.) So this activity is quite normal, and we should be coming to an end (or perhaps a pause) in the seasonal craziness. I do know that Texas tends to have more tornadoes than else where although this might be due to sheer size that Texas is. PBS did a good program featuring quite a few of our researchers and their tornado stuff. It taught me quite a bit and ya'll might find it interesting. Here is a link that might be useful: Deadliest Tornadoes - NOVA/PBS program...See Moregardengal48 (PNW Z8/9)
