Need help re exterior paint color

we have a chalet style home on 7 acres in the Berkshires. painted yellow by previous owner. we have made the decision to replace our wood siding (requires a ton of maintenance due to its exposed location about 1400 feet above sea level) with vinyl. we are trying to decide between Certainteed olive grove and Certainteed spruce. Midnight blue is an option but we think it’s likely more suited to a suburban home. thx.

Did you intend to post a photo of your house? Also, I wasn’t able to find a sample of Olive Grove.

the second photo is olive grove (first is spruce). house is pictured. there is fairly extensive mahogany decking on the house. hope this helps

That is an attractive house. I like painted brick and there's a lot of it in my neighborhood. "Off-white" is a lot of range, though--some off-whites are grayish and others are creamish, for example. I like creamy better than cooler tones, but that's me. Some pretty painted brick houses in my neighborhood are: warm gray with white trim and charcoal shutters cream with sage/taupe-y trim and shutters sage green with black shutters and there's also an electric periwinkle blue with white trim and black shutters, but that's a controversial choice among my neighbors... I wanted a black garage door and the garage door guy said that around here (Kentucky) a black door won't stand up to the heat, as black absorbs more sunlight than other colors. So, you may want to find out if that's true where you are. Or even true at all--maybe he was wrong.

Hello. Choosing exterior colors is so hard; I definitely would pay to get expert help--especially with the existing roof color and white vinyl windows. Here are two suggestions with vastly different price points, both of which I've used: Yourcolorcoach.com (Barbara Meglis) or mariakillam.com (scroll down to Online Consultations). The latter is quite busy now and is only accepting larger projects, the category yours fits into. It's an expensive consultation, but getting it right is so important, and Maria truly is an outstanding color expert who will help you pull everything together. Hope this helps. Good luck!

I love the more saturated green of Olive Grove with the mahogany. Also, paint can look up to 30 percent lighter in the sun, so I would bring a sample to the site if possible.

What are your summers like?..dark colors will absorb heat..may fade or show dust from windy days..lighter colors will look prettier in the months that you have the dead grasses as shown in your picture…

all good points. I am attaching another photo to illustrate how the house is surrounded by evergreens. Spring summer and fall combined last from April to end of October and are lovely. Winter in the remaining months is quite harsh with a fair amount of snow.
